      Entirely new, willing to learn!

First and most importantly, hello and greetings to all!
I literally just learned of Lucid Dreaming today, and I find the concept... Intruiging, that's a good word for it, I suppose. More specifically, the fact that everybody dreams. I was kind of surprised by that, becase I haven't really remembered a dream for a while. Maybe once every few months. Still, the idea of dream control is a great one to me.
Trippy is also a good word. I can't imagine what it's like to be in a dream and think that everything, everything, is under your control! You want a ferrari? Say it, snap your fingers, and bam! (In theory) you have one! Jessica Simpson as a yoga instructor? Sure?
But, there is one thing I really want to try and what I'm setting my long-term goal as. See, I'm a huge zombie movie afficionado, hence my screnname. (I mean freshly killed brains, by the way. Tasty!) And I've read Max Brooks' book, The Zombie Survival Guide, and I thought... What if that happened in my town? Awesome!
Well, maybe not the whole you-get-disemboweled-by-a-group-of-moaning-deamon-things part, but still...
In the meantime, I'll just try to grasp dream recall. It'll probably be hard for me (Again, I rarely even remember my dreams) but I look forward to the journey! (The end result can't be bad either )

      Awesome!
You sound really excited, and that is cool.
It may take a little work to get to the point where you can create a car, but you can definately do it...

Let me ask you... What do you do when you wake up in the morning?
Do you wake up to an alarm clock?
Do you rush, and get ready for school, and rush out the door?
How do you wake up on the weekends?
How much sleep do you get each night?

Okay, I am REALLY excited! Lucid dreaming sounds so amazing, I just want to experience it!

When I wake up, I rush to my alarm clock and get dressed, watching news for the weather, eat breakfast, and I'm out the door by 6:30. On weekends, I generally wake up eairler than I want to because of habbit. I get enough sleep, although I end up tired at night, and I am most certainly not a morning person.
Most of the time I sleep from 10:00 to 6:00, exactly 8 hours per night.

      Welcome, Freshbrains.
I love how excited you are. Good luck on achieving your first lucid dream, and uh... remember to be patient, confident and rubbing your hands.

Welcome to the forum! I could have sworn there was a "how to have a nightmare" thread around here somewhere, but I can't seem to find it...

good luck...if you want to attune yourself to your dreams keep a dream journal..it is the most important single thing you can do to increase your chances of having a lucid.

i went from having the same frequency of dreams you are having (less than one a week, sometimes one a month) to at least 2 or 3, and sometimes 6 or 7 per night.

write down dreams when you have them (even in the middle of the night), even just a couple brief keywords to remind you in the morning...when you wake up, don't move around. keep your eyes closed and try to catch onto anything you were dreaming.

some of my first dream journals were only a couple words, some of the cooler later ones are a few pages...

besides that, check out the tutorials section, and ask any questions you may have...

welcome. put some effort and dedication into it, and you'll be blown away by the payoff

Your rush in the morning is most likely linked to your failure to recall your dreams. Most people remember their dreams the first instant that they wake up, but since the dream consciousness and waking mind are rarely linked, they forget it in seconds. You have to take a minute, to keep from losing the link that is left over seconds after you wake up.

Keep a pad of paper next to you bed, and when you wake up, take a second to write down anything you remember.

As much as I have preached about using a dream journal, I never used one until this morning.
I didn't even remember that I had done it until about an hour ago.
I was thinking about my dreams las night, because I had a terrible lucid dream last night
I suddenly remembered that I had written a dream journal, so I pulled it out, and I was amazed. I had 5 lucid dreams written down that I hadn't even remembered.
      Wow.

Thanks for the replies! My reason for staying up until 10:00 is normally homework or something that's on TV, but I'm definitely going to get to bed earlier now. There are much better things I could be doing.

      First, welcome!

Second: dream journals are AMAZING. i used to have HORRID dream recall, but now, after starting my dream journal (again), i can remember about 3 dreams a night. if ya can't remember your dreams, whats the use of lucid dreaming . After a while you'll be remembering all your dreams (but still use a DJ, otherwise you might start forgetting dreams again). Lastly, find a method in the tutorial you like and work on it!

How long did it take you to hone your dream recall?

oh, it didn't take me long. maybe a week till i started to remember a dream or to every night. 2 weeks till i remembered 2-4 consistently. not sure if i mentioned this before, but i used to also beleive you didn't always dream (cause of my craptastic recall)

      GOOD LUCK!
