      tinnitus

a condition of the ear whereby a high pitched sound is contantly heard
it is uncurable as far as I know and is heard all the time as long as there is blood pumping through the brain

just wondering if you think it could affect/be used in lucid dreaming

Maybe it could be used in WILD by concentrating on the sound. It helps if you have something to concentrate on so that you can forget about your body. And maybe it would be unbeneficial if you need to concentrate on something else, but can't because of the sounds. I can't imagine any other ways it could affect lucid dreaming.

Just for curiosity, do you know if people suffering from tinnitus hear the sound in their dreams too?
Don't think about those damn kangaroos.

I have tinnitus, and yes I do hear it in dreams. I got it when I was 6, I spent too long swimming and damaged my ears, then on the plane coming back it got worse. You know when it's silent, and you can hear a faint ringing? Thats what it's like, just louder and it never goes away. I usually drown it out with music.

I might try concentrating on it next time I do a WILD. Thanks for the idea.

there are other topics on this, quite a few people actually use the noise as an aid in WILDing.

Whoa...that must suck...Didn't know it was that common. It didn't even know it had a name. I just know some old people have it.

It is tolerable, in fact, I sometimes forget about it, until someone reminds me.
