      Dream Storylines, Plots and Turns!

im sure all of us have had dreams that were like an alice in wonderland story, TOTAL CRAZY NONSENSE. From start to finish the dream kept changing and made little to no sense! Like a cup of coffee transforming into a king, which means you gotta go shopping for the express mail or the alligators will eat your shoes....

but have you ever had the other kind of dream? A dream thats like a suspense movie? The beginning is strange, and you the dreamer, aren't even sure whats going on. But the dream leads you on, and the story thickens. The plot unfolds. And in a weird dream way, it all makes sense and relates back the beginning. all the small details and strange events that at first seemed to have nothing in common, slowly place together as puzzle pieces?

those dreams are strange!! and always make me question what a dream is to begin with

      Hey Juroa,

Why would that seem so strange? Our minds are in a constant state of problem solving. Ever been in the dark and seen a silhouette of something that you thought was a person, then in the light you see it's just something hanging near a doorway or something like that? You see a shape, and your mind instantly tries to figure out what it is by comparing it to things that you are already familiar with.

Same goes with events. When you watch a movie, you may not realize it right away but you're constantly trying to make sense of the plot, solve the mystery. In our dreams we are given all this information and your mind naturally tries to make sense of it all so that you can understand it. It is how you interpret these symbols and elements that may give you some insight as to your mental state and well being.

Our dreams can be like an inkblot test. One that constantly morphs and keeps our mind busy deciphering what it sees.

all my dreams are like that. I enjoy them for what they are...
Sometimes, they are like watching a movie, and i wake up and think 'you couldn't make that stuff up'
'all of the moments that already passed/
try to go back and make them last.'

If you have read EWOLD (exploring the world of lucid dreaming), then you would know that your brain does that as a result of schemas.

a schema is basically a model of something in your mind. for instance, i say the world "ship" and you will probably think of a big o'l wooden ship (or a fishing boat) depending on your life experiences. If you were a fisherman, you would probably think of a fishing ship, because you are around them the most. if you are like most of the rest of us that rarely get on ships, but read more about them in books, then you might think of a huge wooden galleon.

I say ship, and you think of your mind's model of a ship. and then you think of water, which is another schema. you think of water, and you think of blue, blue can be dark, and in the dark there are monsters... BAM, there is now a sea monster in your dream.

schemas can activate other schemas, and create some pretty interesting (even movie-quality) storylines

Oh yeah, definetly. I've had dreams that unravel like a novel. I should turn some of the incredible plots into something.. a movie or so.

It's incredible how the mind can create such complex schemes, even though the conscious mind sleeps.

There are examples of such plots in my DJ.

99.99% of the teenage population does or has tried smoking pot. If you have and you've enjoyed it, copy & paste this into your signature line. Everyone else, you're lying!
