      Worlds in Video Games

For all you video gamers out there is it possible to have a lucid dream where you are in a video game world? I have heard that it is harder to dream about this.

Also, what about settings in books and movies? For example, could you have a very vivid dream of attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry?

These are two ideas that I'd love to incorporate into my lucid dreams. Please reply.

      Thanks!

I'm sure it's very possible. I'm not a big gamer, but every once in awhile I'll find myself inside some kind of video game dream (the most recent ones I've had have been about Warcraft III). I'm sure all it would take is for you to RC or just realize you are dreaming when you find yourself in that setting. It's all a matter of having the dream about that and then becoming lucid. Nothing too special to it.

However, if you become lucid in another dream and then want to change to the video game world, that's a different story. You would definitely need better control over your dreams than I have (my LDs last about a minute or less). I'm sure it could be easy for someone with more experience.

      "And through it all
How could you cry for me?
Cause I don't feel bad about it.
      So shut your eyes,
      Kiss me goodbye,
      And sleep.
      Just sleep.

      The hardest part's
The awful things that I've seen."

You definitely can, I've had one where I was in a Half-Life mod's world basically as soon as I realized I was lucid, and ended up having a shootout with some aliens who were attacking the space station I was on. So yeah it's absoutely possible (what isn't really) to do in an LD, although like DreamGuy88 said, definitely harder if you don't start out in the world you want to be in, since it takes more focus/control to change it.

I've had many dreams of video games, if you want a full description check out my DJ.

      Half-Life 2 was incredibly fun.

I created my own FPS in a lucid once too.

I've had dreams about being in the Naruto world... and I've created worlds that are similar to certain games aswell.

Oh yeah, and I also had that Tenchu dream once. Fun stuff. There were kunai guns. Guns that shot throwing knives. Rikimaru lost one of 'em. Silly ninja.

I think that somethink like 1/3 of all my dreams, have had things from World Of Warcraft in them.
I see no reason why it should not be possible. Dreams are reflections from the everyday. If you spend a lot of time, and get a lot of new impressions from video games, your dreams will be formed around them.

My first lucid ever was a dream about monster hunter. I became lucid when I did something that couldn't be done in the game, I pulled out a desert eagle. Of course this was my first time and I woke up, well almost, I had a false awakening and didn't notice.

So yeah, game dreams are possible. The last one I had was based on Quake III.

Few days ago I was Hitman. I also remember I could see a map (from above view, like in game).

Yeah, it's entirely possible. I'll throw down two examples, both coming from Half-Life, when I used to play it.

The second dream, I was in a Counter-Strike map I had never played before. Everything was nice and square, and textured. I went into a jet hangar, even though it was actually really similar to cs_seige, but more of a desert than an urban theme. My one teammate got picked off by the lone terrorist with an AWM, then me and another guy hid behind the same thing. I raised my hand above what was hiding us, and pointed to my other teammate. After a couple seconds, the T was relocating, he shot us both at the same time. I woke up and could not breathe for a second, I thought I was a gonner.

The first time, I had to pee really bad, and I was on the TFC map rock2. After looking around, I saw an AFK in the courtyard, and decided I would just stand behind him and pee between his feet. As soon as I let it out, it came out with such pressure that it instantly and shot like a jet right through the back of his skull. I was just like "OMG I killed ..." and the funny thing was it actually showed up in the upper right corner on the death watch section. Even funnier, it had it's own death icon, even though it looked more like a lightning bolt. From then on, I went around shooting people down with my long range squirt gun. I got a HW bunny hopping back to base for health .

      Thanks you guys!

What about settings in books? It would be extremely awesome to "attend" Hogwarts from the Harry Potter series.

      Lol, attending places in books?

I actually have fallen asleep reading Harry Potter... but i started dreaming i was reading it. I woke up with this incredibly long and impossible plot line in my head, and had to go and had to find where i stopped reading so i could fix my perceptions

I am so glad you posted that! I think I've just remembered a lucid dream where I was in Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, where I had to sneak out of a castle after being locked up. (I think the castle was Fort Moonmoth, if there are any of you guys out there who have played it)

Now, I know this sounds quite bizarre, incredible, even, but if I remember correctly, I bought a small home in a city (the place near fort moonmoth) and made a living selling fruit to monkeys (don't ask). After that I had to complete the game without dying in order to come back to the real world. Pretty exciting, and pretty frightening.

woah... that sounds like an awesome dream!

I would like to have a lucid dream where I'm a student at Hogwarts. Maybe I should fall asleep reading Harry Potter...

Having lucid dreams in video game settings is easy and is normal I guess.

About those books it's maybe more complex. Or at least for me. I can daydream so it's not difficult for me to be at a place like Hogwarts. If I have daydream about a place in a book I can go back to this place in my lucid dreams. But I never tried to create the world from the book in my lucid dreams without having those daydreams.

ad daydream: I don't know how I can explain this...it's like dreaming, being lucid but being actually awake. This kind of dreams are as real as lucid dreams (even more real than the reality).
I've read on this forum that it's actually a "sideeffect" or something which only master lucid dreamers have...but I wouldn't say so.

thanks for the topic, I will try to bring a world from a book I haven't daydreamed about....

Video game dreams can be hella fun

I once had a dream where I was in Call of Duty, but it was incredibly life-like and very vivid. I kicked ass

Some people have it. Personally I think it has to do with the strenght of the mind's eye. I can control my hypnagogic imagery even when my eyes are open. Some people can, others can't. People say "lucid masters" can do it merely because they have strengthened the mind's eye so much.

      ummm daydream

Well i don't know if i daydream but i do it quiet often. I mean when i walk to school i normaly think of a story in my mind and start to think about the images. Often its from a movie point of view but even now im doing it and i can see the images clearly in my head but at the same time typing.
I'm not sure if thats day dreaming but still its quiet funny when you imagin someone slipping on a bananer or bumping into a glass window and you can acturly see it in your mind
If this is daydreaming then i've done it all my life.

Any way about video dreams; yes i've had some but not lucid but they can be fun. Once i had a dream about Never Winter Nights(best game ever and never winter nights 2 is comeing out this september. Its even got a random tree genouratour )
Any way about never winter nights dream; yes it was fun but i was seeing it from 3rd person because NWN is at 3rd person. Even the actions of the game were so clear and the plot was good aswell(im glad i have a smart brain).
I've also had a dream about sword of mana on my gameboy and it was quiet good until my brother came in and was messing with the controls(i can't believe it even got to my dream state).
So yes it is possible but i think it can be done easily if your not in that type of dream because your sub-con can do it like that i mean my dream kept changing from game to something else when i had a few.
I mean a lucid video dream a few months i even found this sight and i changed it quiet easily. What i did was that i was near a computer at that time when i become lucid so i just went up to the computer and started playing a game and i then was fused into it.
So it isn't that hard if you go through the right process, i think and it might be easyer if your next to a computer when your lucid dreaming because, if you've gone on a computer nearly every day its going to follow you into your dreams and your going to know how to work it.
Im not afraid of the dark, its whats in it.
*the lights turn off and the whole room goes dark*
Oh im fin- Ahhhhhhhh its a scary figment of my imagination.

I know exactly what they mean. This can only be done after achieving100% lucidity (which 80% of this forum doesnt have) and comes from experience and not effort.

On my last LD I actually had one of the most fun and intense dreams ever and it had partly to do with a game.

I was walking on a large grass plains, when I looked far and saw the imperial city. In the dream, what I was seeing looked almost exactly as this picture:

I thought it was really neat, and when I looked to the side I saw two monsters running at me. I flied away from them and decided to try if I could throw a few spells around. I was able to make fire with each of my hands and toss huge flame balls at the monsters, which killed them. I then flied higher and towards the city, at which point I saw a horde of other monsters going to attack it. I started hurling ice balls, lighting, and fireballs at the monsters for a while, until I had just tossed........ my car keys by accident. So there I am, flying high above and thinking to myself, "wait, I need those keys to get in my car." I tried to get the keys to fly back to me, but they just flew right past me because I couldn't catch it. I spun around and tried to get them to fly back, but didn't catch it again... I keps doing that until I got frustraded and ended up waking up. hehe.

I had a Final Fantasy Tactics dream, as well one with runescape and well of souls. Usually a video game dream means you were playing the game too much. lol

^^ Thanks, but credit my subconscious. I doubt it is the funniest dream, and that one happened a really long time ago.

In the appropriate "Post your funniest dream" thread, I posted one where there were two guys. An old guy was giving some dude crap and he came up behind him with a pair of hair clippers and just took a chunk out of his hair. I still don't know why, but I was laughing so ridiculously like a stoner.

More recently, I had a dream where a whole bunch of people were waiting to exit a school after an assembly of sorts. There was a tree roughly shaped like an arch and the exit ritual was to jump and touch the top of the arch as you go underneath it.

Some dude was way over pumped, and all excited, and I could tell this was going on in the background of the dream as I got back in line (my shoes were saving my spot). Then I look up and see an ambulance and two paramedics tending to a person on the ground, that was just off to the side. As I thought "Oh what happened?" I was close enough to the tree to see where he hit the tree branch. Unfortunately he hit his head on it too, and it left a whole lot of fresh blood. I just imagined how he jumped and hit his head on a lower part of the tree branch and I got a good laugh out of it. Illustration

Edit: Now that I drew the other one, I did have a really vivid dream where I teleported to a world of midgets. There was a lake and a clear sign to stay out of it. In the lake was a dark green octopus, which looked giant at the time. Some guy wandered in, and it cut to a day later when he came back. He got stung and his eyes were x_x, and he fell into a spell for multiple days, which I had to break in order to save the entire midget land.
