      Is LD a psychic power?

I've never considered lucid dreaming any sort of power (especially psychic)

No, and I hate that it's always being linked to psychic or supernatural things. Gives it a bad name.

Don't get me wrong, I think there are some psyhics who have the gift and are legit etc but I dont think concious dreaming has anything to do with being psychic.

There is nothing "supernatural" about lucid dreaming.
      I can because I know I can.

      No.

I also don't like that label because it makes people who practice lucid dreaming sound like new-agey idiots.

      Ditto.

It's that concept, exactly, that makes it so hard to talk to people (who know nothing about lucid dreaming) about lucid dreaming. Even when they seem somewhat interested, you can almost hear the "WTF is this guy on?" rattling around in their heads.

This year I went to a meeting of my University's Wiccan club (not a practitioner, just a curious person really), and they were discussing Lucid Dreaming. I argued vehemently that the ability to LD is entirely natural, entirely everyday, and an entirely concrete experience.

The only similarity is that, as an outsider, you can't see either lucid dreaming or psychic ability.

Exactly. This is basically the response of my entire family. They think I'm into some weird religion or something. It sucks. This is a part of my life, and all I want to do is talk about it with people who are close to me.

Alas, it seems that if you have not ever had a lucid dream, the world of lucid dreaming seems sort of fantastical, and very fictional.

I really doubt it is that. Guessing at card concentration isn't either...

Well anyways, if LDing was a P.power, then wouldn't dreaming be, too! Then we'd all be P!
