      Pre-REM Dreams ?

I am not sure if this is like everyone, but I have at least one pre-REM dream every night. I will always wake up about an hour after I slept and remember it fully. Either that or it will be the kind of dream where I am falling off of a bench and jump up (wake up) right before I hit the ground.

A few nights ago, I was sleeping next to my girlfriend, and in my dream (about 20 mins after I fell asleep) she asked me to get her a glass of water, so I got up and sat on the edge of my bed, but noticed that I was awake and not dreaming, like a sudden wake up, almost like going lucid in a dream. (weeeeeird feeling) I thought maybe she really did ask me so I asked her she said she did not.

Maybe this is when most sleepwalking occurs sense your body is not completely paralyed?

Just any feedback, anyone else get a lot of pre-REM dreams?

that does sound weird. how do you know that it is pre-REM. I go into REM in about 5 minutes (that is what the sleep doctor said/the doc said I have a variant of narcolepsy). Maybe you go into REM in that amount of time too.

      just a thought.

though you may be right because the sleep people only say that most dreams occur during REM.

Well, if its a dream its gotta be in REM, but I understand what you mean.
You have a dream almost as soon as you go to sleep, instead of after a couple of hours. Sometimes I experience that too, its quite weird.

hmm.. well ya i said pre-rem because i read that like you said MOST dreams are rem... and i also read that rem does not start until later in the night, like hours after you fall asleep.

maybe i do enter the rem earlier than normal???
