      the mind's clock

Last night at 5:07am I was still up (which isn't unusual being it summer and all) so I start meditating. I had an idea -an experiment- I thought to myself calmly
"'okay, it's exactly 5:07 right now, I want to open my eyes at exactly 5:30, that's in exactly 23 minutes" so I face my clock, (any other time i would face the other direction) close my eyes and meditate as usual. Focusing on other things I forget about my little experiment. Then when I finish, I open my eyes, see my clock reading 5:30 and remember what I was trying to do...wierd I hadn't opened my eyes at all while meditating.

This isn't the first time this has happened to me, often wake up just minutes before my alarm is set to go off and a couple times I forgot to set my alarm I have woken up just when I wanted to.
has anyone else experienced something like this?

Actually if you are getting up at the same time all the time, you usually wake up that time. It's normal. It happens to me everytime. (almost)

I've never done such a experiment as yours though. But usually when I say to me..ok I will go to sleep now and I want to be up at [insert time] I wake up at that exact time. (but I see nothing special in it)

Yea, the same thing happens to me with the clock in the morning; waking up right beofre ti goes off. Also, I have a very good internal clock, as long as I look at the clock in the morning, I can prettly much just feel what time it is up until 11pm. after that time just seems to fly past me so fast and I loose my touch.

I also have a good internal clock. If I need to wake up at a specific time, anytime past 7am, I can tell myself when i want to wake up, and I'll wake up within 3-4 minutes of the chosen time. I also hit my internal snooze - like if I wake up at 7:30am and say I want to sleep for another 10 mins, I'll wake up exactly 10 mins later. It's actually quite handy.
