      doing drugs in dreams

Has anyone ever done a drug in their dream that they hadn't tried in real life and then later in life they tried the drug and it had te same affect as the drug they tried when they were dreaming?

did i explain that clearly or does it not make sense?

i can't believe that it is possible to actually feel what a drug would do to you in waking life (before acually doing it). However it seems possible that you could have an experience based on your perceptions about a drug. For example you know LSD is a hallucinogen, therefore you take it ina dream and "hallucinate" according to your own perceptions of what hallucinating would feel like.

On the other hand. I have smoked marijuana in a dream and felt the actual effect even a short time after I had woken up.

I did shrooms in a dream, but haven't tried them in the waking life just yet.

I smoked crack in a dream, but I would never do it in RL. Anyway, in my dream, it felt like being high off of marijuana, which I have done (and I really don't think crack makes you feel exactly like marijuana, lol). I don't think it's possible to feel the exact sensation of a drug you haven't done (or anything you haven't done for that matter) in a dream. My mind just compared it to something else I've done, and guessed what it would feel like.

I had a dream only 2 nights ago that I snorted coke. I have never done it in real life. I am an daily pot smoker. What I felt in the dream was nothing like being stoned. I felt the exact effects of what I read coke should do. Basically like a huge adrenaline rush with strong euphoria. It also lasted for the right amount of time and was followed by the crash.

This is just going to basically be an opinion thread since it will be near impossible to figure out unless you dream about shooting heroin and then go out and do it just for the soul purpose of comparing the two sensations. Which doesn't seem practical. Or mabye somone does do that but then you only really have their word to go on.

I personally think yes it can happen. The brain is very powerfull and can extrapalate missing data much like a computer would. So while it may upon testing not be the exact sensation my bet would be it's darn near close to it.

It seems almost everyone has done drugs in dreams. Even I did weed once in a dream (not lucid). I ate it instead of smoking it, and thus I wasn't asleep long enough for it to have any effect.

This is very interesting, I've also done "hard" drugs in dreams and there was not a shade of doubt, I just did them. But I would not do them in RL... The experience was just weird, I dont think that's how it should feel.

Few times I've smoked weed in a regular dream, and it was very much like the RL, however in RL I dont get busted by cops with like a pound of weed on me Quite unpleasant experience...

I've tried taking extasy and smoking weed in a LD, even stating that I'm taking a special weed or X with instantaneous onset, but nothing happened.... The smoke felt very realistic tho.

About the OP's question - I remember being really wasted on alchohol in a dream before ever being so drunk in real life, the effects were quite similar.

PS this is like 10th thread on this subject that I\'ve seen

      LSD dreams

What a timely discussion... just last night I had a dream that I was shooting heroin (well someone else injected my vein), which I have never done and don't plan on it either. But I remember waiting for the effect to happen and nothing did- I became distracted by my vein which had become weird and was worming out of my arm.

Anyway, I have been thinking about this today, about doing drugs in dreams, and it brings to mind the many dreams that I have where I just start tripping hard. Everything turns kalediscope and swirly and I get really scared because I cannot see what I'm doing (I'm usually driving in my dream when this happens). I have had this experience in RL (although I was not driving at the time). I have only had a few lucid dreams, and during one of them (my first one actually) I the richness of my surroundings the colors and their quality was like what I had seen on acid. Does anyone else think that their lucid dreams are similar to experiences on LSD?

I've never done LSD myself but i've had a couple of really, really vivid and strange LD's. When I've told people about them they say they sound exactly like LSD-trips! 8)

Anyway, before I tried pot I dreamt of it a lot. From what I can remember the dreams were very similar to the real experience, although I think I missed out on some details. I've also dreamt I've taken/been forced to take harder drugs that I'd never try irl, and every time it's a different experience. I don't think it's the same as the real thing though.

I have had a dream about being effected by marijuana. But I did not take it myself; there was a large pile of marijuana lying on the ground that got burned, then I got the smoke into myself in the dream. My vision got a bit weird in it and shit, but that is because I think marijuana has an effect like that.

As for taking drugs in reality, I have never done that. I will might try LSD sometime, though; I think it seems like an interesting drug, after reading about it. There also seems to be few downsides with it.

in my humble and admitantly unresearched view, i think pot would be safer to expirament first on.

I have read LSD can be dangerous as it makes one unaware of physical dangers. So maybe that is a good idea.

Sure, but as long you're in a calm environment with friends it's considered to be a rather "safe" drug. Even alcohol can make you unaware of physical dangers.

      drugs in dreams

I dont think that you can predict what drugs will really feel like in dreams because the first time that anyone does any drug it is usually nothing that they expected.

      However...

Lucid dreaming is similar to tripping to me in some ways. In fact I usually go lucid by thinking that I am tripping and not being able to remember when i took the acid or shrooms. And then as soon as I go lucid the world turns into the ultimate trip that surpasses any drug I have ever taken, where you can literally go on a trip to the heavens. But the second that you go lucid and everything becomes clear and beautiful and bright is similar to mushrooms and acid.

and, if you have already tried drugs before you can definately feel the effects if you so desire in a dream. I have definately been stoned and/or rollin before in dreams and it felt very very real

      Drugs and Alcohol in Dreams...

      Interesting thread...

In my dream experience there have only been a few instances that involved drugs. While interpreting dreams I've found that in order to understand the meaning of the image you must first examine the influence in question.

For instance, what is the effect of the drug? What does it do to you physically? Does it Numb (cocaine), does it relax (marijuana), does it amplify passion (Ecstasy), does it reduce inhibitions (alcohol), does it reduce stress (cigarettes), does it induce anger (vodka), does it cause hallucinations (LSD, Mushrooms), how destructive is it (herion), how addictive is it (crack). Also, factor in your opinion of the drug or your experience with it. Often, drugs in dreams tie in to personal/romantic relationships and careers. For instance, is there someone you witnessed going through a hard time with addiction? Or...is there an issue you are trying to block out? If there is a part of you that you are trying to ignore, cocaine in a dream would "numb" that part of you (your physical, mental, emotional or spiritual side).

I once had a dream wherein I discovered that my boyfriend at the time had a cocaine factory underground in a cave. When I asked him about it his reply was, "Where do you think I get all my money?" In reality, he didn't do cocaine. What he DID do was bury himself in his job to avoid intimacy...with his son, with me, with his son's mother, etc. His excuse was always, "I have to work." It was not as though he really needed the money, he needed the Escape. He worked overtime out of fear of intimacy. The closer we got, the more he worked. It was interesting to observe his behavior, no matter how painful it was to be ignored.

Similarly, I've had dream clients who would have dreams about alcohol, no matter the level of their consumption or whether they even liked it. In working with several of them, I discovered that when they ran into an issue that dealt with love, sex, intimacy, honesty, etc. (whether as a result of childhood trauma, past hurts, current phobias, present partner cheating, whatever...) they would have a dream that involved alcohol. I found a common denominator in that several of them didn't feel "ready" for sexual activity until they had the buzz they were looking for. In others, it revealed their "altered" perceptions of what sex is and how it impacts you. It illustrated their "clarity" on the topic. Were they dealing with their waking life experience clearly or were they trying to "Blur" it in some way in an effort to cope? The truthful answers were always fascinating.

I didn't mean for this to get so long, I merely wanted to share a snippit of my findings. I feel that the personal symbology would be your biggest clue. Since drugs alter the consciousness, I would think that their presence in a dream offers insight into how you are coping with life experiences. The entire topic is interesting.

I also find it interesting that in some the effects can be felt after waking. I think it goes to show you the connection between spirit and being in the physical.

Just wanted to share my thoughts. Anyone have anything similar or something to add? Thanks for reading!
      Love and Light,

      ~Char.

Years ago I had a dream that I was walking down the hallway in my high school and I was one acid. I remember feeling my body all distorted, the sensation of walking was as if gravity was bent forwards and then stretching me around, kinda like a human slinky on acid. Or something like that - it's hard to describe!

I never did anything like that in RL at school, and I've never taken acid in my life.

Verry strange, & quite interesting. Love to do it again, this time lucidly.

Char I think that your reply was really interesting. I think that If you never have tried a certain drug, but you do it in your dream, then it totally makes sense that the drug would give you insight into yourself about how you are coping with your life experiences. This is because without the personal experience of doing the drug in real life, you are not getting the effect of the drug from the drug itself, or even a memory of the drug itself. Instead you are experiencing what you invision the drug might be like, and how you would invision reacting to the drug. So a new drug experience in a dream is like a test of yourself, or simply a vivid fantasy of what the drug is like.

However, when you have taken drugs in real life and then you do it in a dream, the drug effects are based on your memory of the feelings go through you, and because it is a dream, the feelings are a million times more intense and real then the simple memory of taking a drug.
