      Recurring Dream Characters

Okay. Here are the main types of recurring dream characters.

      Dream Nemisis
Alot of people have these. They appear in most nightmares. And when they appear in normal dreams they turn them into nightmares. Sometimes they can just be stadning around you. Or following you. Altogether, a Dream Nemesis is a dream character who doesn't like you. Or in a more spiritual sense he is a negative spirit who decided to pick on you. Or not... or maybe... or who knows....

      The Perfect Being
*sigh* The Perfect Being.... normally a member of the opposite(sp?) gender unless you are .... . I have a recurring Perfect Being..... they are very hard to describe and normally... I can remember the presence of the Being but... I can barely remember any physical things... but I remember seeing something that instantly filled me with happiness and joy... and talking to this Perfect Being... was something I could do for hours on end.

      The Friend
An ally or group of allies who are almost always at your side when you need it. They are normally representations of friends in real life. Also a lot of the time they look nothing like your friends but you reckognise(sp?) as your specific friends.

That is about all I can think of and relate to... feel free to list any other types of recurring dream characters! Also, tell me what ones you have that have been listed so far, and some of your own. I have a recurring group of Friends and a recurring Perfect Being. Yay! I might have a Nemesis but haven't been vigilant enough to notice.
need to actually start like trying to LD i've pretty much started that now kinda.

My father (passed away) is in probably 50% of my dreams which is, obviously, a lot. He's usually a neutral character, although he's played the nemisis as well as the friend on many occasions. I'm sure it's more a reflection of my feelings but it's interesting that this only started happening after he passed away.

i dont believe in this spirit BS but i think your father is in your dreams because he is in the back of your mind and maybe you miss him or think about him a lot, conciously or subconciously.

I can honestly say that I don't think I've ever had a consistent dream nemesis. I don't have a lot of nightmares, I actually can't remember the last time I had one, but I know that when I used to they were always random monsters. Most of my dreams that should become nightmares tend to have a neutral and mundane feeling about them. I would just go about them like any other dream, but they include, what would normally be, scary characters. I'm sure that I've now jinxed myself.

My second lucid dream include what I picture to be the perfect being your talking about. I don't remember what she look like, what she dressed like, but I do remember that I tried extremely hard to impress her and win her attention. I looked away, looked back and she was gone. Never seen her in any other my other dreams though.

I normally have friends that I recognize, have gone to school with, or know personally. The big characters seem to be random people that I go to school with. It seems kind of odd, because I can imagine myself telling them I had a dream about them.

i dont really have much of a nemisis. i do have a character that i dont like and well, i guess sometimes he doesnt like me. I guess that qualifies for a nemisis in a way, but a very shallow one. One time he let me fall of a cliff

When I was a young child I used to have a friend-type recurring character of a girl my age whose appearance would change depending on the context of the dream, i.e., if we were in a midevel castle or something she would be dressed appropriately and if we were in some future world she would have different clothes. I must have only been 5 or 6 but she probably appeard a half a dozen times.

I have dreams where family members are recurring characters.

I think I've only had one dream nemisis, and that was this weird FBI looking guy who appeared once, and then when I questioned why he was there, returned in another dream, which still didn't answer the "why" aspect of things. He was trying to force his way into my house the first time, and in the next dream he was following me and asking innocent bystanders in the grocery store who I was. lol

I had a dream "teacher" appear a couple of times. A short, bald, old, asian man who seemed very wise.

Never had any recurring DCs, but on the psychotic side of life I´ve had one real nasty voice stuck in my head for a couple weeks telling me some real scary shit

I have a group of recurring DCs that are in my dreams so often they are a dream sign. I call them the H.S. (High School) DCs, as they look like a bunch of people from high school. When they first started showing up they were sort of a nemisis group. They'd get in my way, annoy me, even try to hurt me. But as time has gone on, they have actually become helpful friends in my dreams. They follow me around and help me a lot.

An other experience of a dream nemisis becomeing a dream friend is the recurring character I'll call R. For years I've had nightmares about R. After a while in every dream I had about R. I'd confront R. and try to end the harassment. Recently I finally recieved a sincere apology from the DC R. Since then R. has shown up several times in my dreams to help when I really needed it.

I wonder what that whole turning a nemisis into a friend thing is about in my mind??
