      The "Old Hag"

On another forum, arne saknussemm mentioned something about an "Old Hag."

I get the "Old Hag" now and then. Anyone else have a similar person appear? (My apologies if this has been discussed before. I'm new here.)

If you have, what did she look like? And what kind of physical/mental reactions do you have? Also, where did she appear to you (in your own room, a dreamscape, a familiar public place, etc.)?

      Tock.

I have never experienced this but my girlfriend does regularly.

Try searching for posts or googling SP (sleep paralysis), Iron rope, old hag e.t.c

I've seen this topic a few times so I'm sure you'll find some useful info.

IIRC, you aren't meant to actually see an old hag. The 'old hag' is just the feeling of a person touching you whilst you're paralysed (during sleep paralysis) that was historically thought to be a succubus.

No. Some people do see people. She is called the old hag because the first recorded case of this, she took on the apparence of an old hag, who sat on a man's chest, and kept him from breathing or moving.

That's a normal sign of SP.

Beyond freaky for me... terrifying is more like it.
I've had dreams with her in them since I was a little little kid.
She always looks the same: Dark shawl or robe with a hood, dirty
greasy snarled long gray hair, bluish-gray horribly wrinkled skin,
      and yellowish eyes.

She radiates absolute menace and ill-will, and leaves me chilled
and goose-bumpy even on a hot summer night.

She usually appears in my own bedroom, either coming out of a closet
or standing at the foot of my bed watching me. She never speaks, and
she has only touched me once, with the tip of her finger, and it was like
getting an electrical shock that woke me up.

Are chills and goosebumps a typical manifestation of SP?

When I was younger I always thought she was a witch.
As I got older I wondered if she was a psychological manifestation
of some sort of repressed misogynistic tendency....
