Thread: Video Tape an LD or OBE

if anyone here has a good camera or something and has features on it for video timing and stuff then maybe they should video tape themselves at night.
for example they should set it for 90 minutes after they fall asleep..or just some random time at night to maybe catch REM in effect..

or to video tape OBE just start it from wen u get into bed for about 2 hours or something....i think it would be amazing to maybe witness urself in progress

You think it's possible for the dream body to be visible, is that what you're implying? At first, my inner voice shouted, "Ahem, that's impossible!" But I'm open-minded, hehe. I never really did think OOBE was literally out of body. I guess it's hard for me to accept at this point. Doesn't OOBE mean viewing the real world in real time with a dreaming point of view?

No, you actually leave your body.

What would the point be? All you would see is yourself just sat there, sleeping, perhaps rolling over a few times, or your hands twitching (like I see when my cat is asleep), and the camera there might inhibit your ability to sleep well, with it constantly sat there staring at you.

its the point of obersvation...i think u may capture rem...see what it is like..any strange movements....expect the expected but dont be surprised if u find the unexpected

I would say it might be interesting for an OOBE, maybe it might help you prove that everything that happen while you were on it was true(sounds you heard, people you saw, etc)

For lucid dreaming however, I wouldn't waste the film. It would just be you lying in your bed for a couple hours. It would be a very uneventful recording....

I lay all my money firmly on "nothing happening". If something did happen, we would of read about it on the Astral Websites or treatises/scientifical websites.

Most digital video camera's with a firewire connection can be controlled by computer. It wouldn't be too difficult to write a small program using the services in DierctX v9 to control this camera.

I think this would be amusing for the people who talk in their sleep or even sleep walk! But if it is for the intent to see if anything happens in an OOBE there may just be disappointment. I am told I often talk in my sleep so I would think it would be fun to see what I say. Wouldn't it be cool if you woke up from an amazing LD and you saw yourself (on video) actually talking just as you were in your dream? For most of us I fear it would be very boring to watch. Worth a try though...

We dont have that kind of technology around here

thats waht its all about......maybe someone here with the money and time to watch themseklves roll around all night can post some info

Okay, I have a camera. I will do the experiment. I won't post it on the internet because it would be a HUGE file, but I will tell you if anything happens (and post pictures if the camera shows something freaky happening).

Recently Ev & I have a similar discussion about this. I think he ran into some techniqual difficulties. -Night vision + long enough record time.

If you are going to try it, make sure you try an OOBE. I think that one will be the most interesting of the two...

Did it. Not paticulary good, really. I just sat there asleep, eyelids shut (so I couldn't see the REM period. But, just for the record, I have seen a baby asleep with it's eyes open, and its eyes were moving from side to side. It was pretty freaky).

I did notice I turned over alot more than I thought I did. Like, 20+ times.

[also, I think I mumbled something, but the camera quality was a POS].

What did you do, an OBE or a LD?

If it was an OBE, were you able to see the camera recording you? Also, did you record or hear in the recording anything that you remember distinctly seeing while you were in the OBE...?

OBE. I didn't see anything in the OBE that I did in the camera recording. Beats me. And the Camera quality was bad, too.

Pretty sure. I didn't see the camera either. You need thought forms and all that other complicated stuff.

do u fellas think a digital camera would work......like just point it at my bed and record it for a size of 50 meg.....which is ages as my camera is crap..max 640 by 480..........im not sure....id think it would freeze before it finished

oh btw kaniaz how was the video taping??

By the way, a Red Dwarf video, taking 30 minutes, with divx compression, and less than 640x480 resolution is over 200MB. 50MB wouldn't be enough.
