Yeah so since I started trying to WILD I have noticed a trend recently. I hardly ever used to see hypnagogic stuff when I am just trying to sleep... Maybe once a week. Now since I've been trying to WILD I see it almost every night. If, at the time, I am not trying to WILD I will be like "Cool... hypnagogic stuff" and then fall asleep within 5 minutes. Interestingly enough, with my WILD attempts, I tend to see VERY LITTLE hypnagogic imagery.
      So my questions here are:

To those of you who have tried WILD:

Did you find it made you see hypnagogic imagery more often, even when you weren't trying to WILD? Maybe this is because you are becoming more aware of the transition from wake to sleep that your body makes every night?

      and:

Why don't I see hypnagogic stuff when I actually TRY to WILD?... instinct tells me I'm trying TOO hard... but I'd still like input.

Hmm Usually some minutes after I close my eyelids I start ''seeing'' these colored dots. they then sometimes advance into colorfull swirls, I start hearing ''sounds'' and voices'' pretty quickly and in rare cases I experience flashes of dreamscenes and faces. but only right before I fall asleep. Usually after that my memory is Blank and I fall unconcious. I have not yet managed to maintain concious while the Colory dots and brief dreamscene flashes form into a complete DreamScene. I'd love to Experience that but I find it very hard not to loose Conciousness.

Perhaps you shouldn't try focussing TOO HARD on the HI while attempting WILD. It will come naturally don't worry. As there is also no doubt you will always fall asleep no matter how awake your Mind is while still awating sleep. It always comes. The trick is to stay Concious and CONCIOUSLY experience it. And preferably all the way into the Dream.

But I won't stop trying. I might try focussing on the inner ''sounds and ''voices'' as I am sinking away into sleep. But I won't give up.

So far, as of today I have had 2 succesful WILD's, and they are they only attemps that I have seen hypnagogic imagery. My imagery starts when the giant throbbing sensation appears, and after 5-15 seconds, that imagery becomes a dreamscape!

Also, is it just me, or do you see coloured dots all the time? Very small ones... everywhere you look.....?

First WILD on 6th of August, 2006!

Were they During a time you were PHYSICALLY very Tired, yet Mentally very awake? Like I.E. During an evening or midday Nap?

Otherwise I believe these 5-15 seconds you prescribe acould actually be up to an hour of time, you misinterpretating the amount of that has passed: It often happens as we sink away into sleep: We loose Track of time. Have you ever slept in a Car going somewhere that is going to take 2 hours of Driving, then wake up after, what you experience as 20 minutes, and you're suddenly THERE!

I've been attempting WILD many times and LAST night I came as close to a Dream as I've ever come while attempting WILD: It was actually not so much the Visual DreamScene already appearing as they were More Abstract THOUGHTS and Feelings, Storyline like-thoughts...As are typically experienced during Dreams. After a couple of times almost getting hypnotised by it a number of times and then Still Maintaining Conciousness and thinking: ''wow I must be getting closer to the Dream now'' I actually lost Conciousness anyways somewhat later. Woke up with Little recall, yet the feeling of the Dream has still no worn of now. Maybe I'll recall it and get flashbacks later during the day..perhaps having been lucid.

I'm going to attempt WILD again tonight, and after that and that...Allthough it proves hard to stay concious as I fall asleep into a Dream, it just Seems like something I am Able to get under Control in time. I've gotten much closer already so I'm not gunna give up just yet
