Transference Of Death

A friend recently told me that if you die in a lucid dream and don't wake up, you die in real life. Her reasoning was that the brain can't cope with it and shuts the body down. I'm sceptical of this. I haven't seen any evidence or found any proof (as yet). What do you think? I'mm confused. (If you have any information please share! If there already is a topic for this direct me to it! I did search, but found nothing that deals with dying in real life.)

1) A lucid dream is still a dream, and thus, you ARE gonna wake up, no matter what... 2) a lucid dream is a dream in which you know you are dreaming, you know what you are doing in the dream, and you can do stuff on your own initiative... with your brain... why can't the brain cope with that? 3) and IF you don't wake up... the only reason why you'll die is starvation... lucid or not... 4)i still don't get what she meant with that the brains can't cope with, if you don't wake up... 5) there is no evidence or proof... did you ever hear of someone who couldn't wake up from his/her dream? 6) 7) if anyone knows how i can change my avatar back to my blue fireball thingie... i would be very happy: i just tried like... 7 times... and it said every time it has "updated avatar choice" ---> WTF??? i just want my avatar changed...

Hehehehe. Burns is right, it's totaly rubbish. I've died quite a few times in non-lucids, and I'm still alive. Either that, or they have internet in hell. But, I don't see how lucidity in a dream should make you die in real-life if you die in a dream. But yeah. This whole fear of dying in a dream thing seems to be brought up quite frequently by new members. Maybe some sort of sticky in General Discussion, or in the Newbie Zone, something along the lines of "Myths of Lucid Dreaming" or something...?

I would like to add to the record that i have personally died in two particular lucid dreams that I have had. I am still alive I think > or still dreaming. Because I was conscious I could not fully perceive death. So I suppose this would be why I woke up both times. I suppose too you could also fall back to sleep. Hypothetically speaking I guess in a lucid or non lucid dream you could perceive an event to be so frightfully that you could have a heart attack because of it. Or sex that good. I think both of those accounts are logged in my journal.

I sure hope so. hehehe At anyrate we have all heard that if you are in a dream falling down a deep hole in the ground that if you hit bottom you will die.(at least I have many a time...) I have "hit bottom" in a non-lucid and havve somehow magicly lived to tell about it. You aren't going to die in a dream and have it kill you in real life. Period.

Broadband in hell? Are you kidding? They make you use 14.4k dialup You cant die in lucid dreams. Please as your friend how he acquired such information without dying? If you hear something like "FOAF told me" you know its' a bunch of BS. I've died in a LD and I'm still alive. I became lucid and started flying over a hill. On the other side of a hill was a valley miles deep. I started flying above the tops of giant trees that were growing there. I started to slowly descend circling around a tree. Some thought distracted me and the next thing I know is I'm falling into darkness at the bottom of these trees (from miles up high)... I blacked out and woke up

Nah, the whole thing is just poop. Maybe if you had Ye Olde Pacemaker, were 150 and were scared by the crackling of Choco Pops cereal, you might just die from it. Then again you'd die from anything.

You are SUPPOSED to get killed in a Lucid Dream, and you are SUPPOSED to keep in the dream while dead, at least for 20 seconds or so... long enough to come back to life. You see, this represents a TEST and a very important Rite of Passage. Dying in a Dream and staying in the dream long enough to experience coming back to life -- it brings the knowledge and certainty that in one's dreams one is an Immortal Hero. Your friend either knows nothing about dreaming, or is a very elementary beginner.

My brother has just had his second dream in which he could change things and he managed to stop traffic! I've been LDing for months and I can't do that. p.s. She also told me that nearly every dream she has is lucid, simply because anything unrealistic is a dream trigger for her.

Yeah, as everyone said, you can't die because you died in a lucid dream unless you die in real life because you starved, or got murdered, or just died in your sleep for no reason. But you CAN die laughing at that friend of yours from believing such a thing *laughs so hard that he falls over dead for no reason*
