I went to bed real early today, at 8:00, with the intention of having a long sleep and having some nice vivid dreams, hopefully some lucid dreams. It's now 2:00 am and I still haven't slept. I'm going to get very little sleep tonight and not much REM time. Every once in a while, I'll have a freak bout of insomnia like this, it's VERY frustrating. I don't like taking sleeping pills because they make me feel really groggy in the morning, especially if I take it late when I am having one of these bouts of insomnia... anyone have suggestions for falling asleep naturally?

Yeah Insomnia realy realy realy suxxx. Especially after 7 months of it.

I know how you ca just totally Freak out due to tyhe Restlessness. Only in those Frek out and loose control-cases I drink Promethazine: a CoughSurpressant/Sleep Aid that calms you down within minutes. It's the only thing that helps.

Bu I'm not a fan of sleep aid medication either. I want my Natural Sleep back. Lately I've been tackeling my Insomnia somewhat successfull by simple techniques:

Taking 30 minutes to be alone in my dark bedroom, do something calming like playing some gentile guitar and really Getting ready for bed.

But some nights I can just forget about sleep It just won't happen. I usually sit up in bed, have a cup of soothing tea and whatever to relax me a bit before I even attempt sleeping again. Tossing and turning will only make me more restless.

After a week or so of doing this disciplined I started naturally feeling Sleepy again after Midnight: Quite a miracle after having missed that feeling completely for so long. May just for you: It was my doctor's advice with a bit of my own tricks blended through the idea. Find out what calms you down. Sometimes, for instance, I'm so Emotionally Upset and Restless that only really Intense Emotional Music can kind of Relieve these feelings.

Sometimes it gets me near tears when the ongoing emotions are strong and I listen to the music: But then my Malcontent and Sadness turn into a somewhat Calming sadness...strange huh? but after venting my strong emotions that keep me from sleep I can find peace in Sadness. Crying over something that really F*cks my Mind really does help me Vent that emotion and find some peace again so I can sleep again.

FIRST: Figure out what's keeping you from sleep. Many Causes of Insomnia are: a Bio-clock-Confusing Inconsistent bedtime(make up a CERTAIN bedtime and KEEP yourself to it Discipinedly), Strong Emotions(whatever vents your emotions), An over active and too busy Mind(Meditation might help calm the Mind), a tense and not relaxed body ( take a hot shower, trust me)

Only then can you get your well deserved rest again.
