Sometimes we all have those dreams that we just want to get out of, even if lucid. When I was younger, I used to always look for a high place to jump from to end a dream. Now that's evolved to flying as fast as I can so my brain won't be able to process everything. However, the same stuff doesn't work for everyone, so I thought it would be cool for everybody to post your favorite or most useful way of getting out of a dream and back to the real world.

I'll give the advice given by the convenience store clerk/boat car driver in waking life
If you want to wake up, then just wake up.

But really, it's as easy as commanding yourself to wake up, it works perfectly if you believe it will

I just close my eyes tightly and then open them very, very slowly... when they are fully open I am usually looking at the real world.

I have to agree with john. Just know that you will wake up and honestly believe it.

Yep, I agree with this as well. Works very well

Nice job putting this in words, I always had trouble explaining how to do this stuff

True statement. The problem with that though, is whenever I close my eyes in a dream and then open them I wake up, no matter how fast or slow I do it. I have woken up from some awesome LDs because of this .

Or perhaps engage in any activity that would get your heartrate to rise enough to where it's impossible to stay asleep.
