      Sleep paralysis

Anyone in here have sleep paralysis *disorder*?

If you don’t know what it is then go to http://www.stanford.edu/~dement/paralysis.html

I have had it all my life, but I had a few questions: could I having this help me have a WILD? Since I have it when I try to go to sleep as well as when I wake, I thought maybe I could just stay paralyzed and try to go strait into the dream.

Anyway, any responses are welcome, especially those who have sleep paralysis.

      i get it sometimes.

if you read one of my earlier posts, you will see one of the answers say that when you do a WILD the "funky sensations some folks feel" are caused by the body entering paralysis. So when you are in paralysis you are 50% through a WILD. try it next time!

Sleep Paralysis is a natural bodily function that causes us to be paralyzed during sleep. It prevents us hurting ourselves or others during dreams. It's when it follows us into the waking state that it becomes a disorder.[/b]

Sleep paralysis is something *everyone* does when we kip, but i assume you stay paralized for some time *after* sleep?

I've managed it once & i had a dead arm to from sleeping on it, and i had a little visit from the 'Hag' while i was at it. I still get the occassional twinge of my lower half slipping away whilst lying there and i have to quickly move to wake em up again. Certainly wouldnt like that to happen all the time.

I sometimes get them when i'm on the verge of waking up... I still sometimes have small dreams, usually having to do with me not beeing able to move, and images of me in my bed trying to move but unable to, but really blurry and still in sleep/retard mode.

i haven't tried that specifically but I do usually "jump" out of my paralysis. the transition from paralysis to fully awake is usually pretty shocking to your mind and body

I know what it's like to feel sleep paralysis in the middle of morning.

For some reason, I'm always under my blanket when this happens, and I think I'm going to die by suffocating. I don't though. But, part of my conscious mind is still intact at that point, so I would say WILD's would be easier at that point.

i think having decreased oxygen getting to your brain somehow affects getting sleep paralysis

She is drawing reference to your first statement. Sleep Paralysis is not a disorder as you mentioned when you started the thread. Paralysis that is experienced day in and day out as far as being a vegatable is considered a disorder.

Sleep Paralysis is great for WILD's you're a step ahead of the game with sleep paralysis.

I experience Sleep Paralysis very often. It usually comes on between the time I start to feel groggy and fall aleep. The strange thing is, when I am in this groggy state and start to have SP, I become very aware.

yes. it is normal. it usually happens after you fall asleep, during REM, but sometimes is induced while still concious. it can help usher you into a WILD.
