I've always had some trouble with sleep paralysis that I never really bothered looking into, as I don't seek them out that often (I rarely do WILDS or WBTB as I instantly go lucid). Recently I've been getting less sleep than I usually do and dreams are vague and unclear, thus I experience the paralysation more often (usually I fall asleep before my body does).
I've had the same problem some years ago, where I would lay down and let the SP arrive, but it just stays like that until I break out. I'm talking about 5 minutes or more, I just get paralysed but I wont fall asleep and it gets really frustrating as the piercing sounds reach higher and higher pitches and volume.
I break the SP by moving my neck towards my body in a way, there is this muscle there that is still movable and once its activated the hole process is shut off.
I'm sure stress is the reason why I'm in this situation, but even so I think it could be interesting to experiment a little with this.
I'd just like to hear if anyone else get these annoying long SP's and how to snap into a dream instead of laying there, paralyzed. Also, if you have long SP, have you waited longer than 5min? (personally I cant stand the sounds)
