I was reading something about meditation today and i was wondering... what if you could meditate deeply and start a lucid dream just like that.. whenever you wanted to, instant lucidity. I have never meditated and only had 1 lucid so im not an expert on either topic, but i am wondering if its possible??

i have wondered the same thing.

when i meditate after a while i often start to feel what i call "the drift". that physical sideways side/sink/drift feeling that suddenly turns up just on the verge of sleep. also accompanied by a hyper-sensitvity to noise that reminds me alot of a minor version of hypnogogic noises.

i must investigate further

FYI the meditation i usually do is :
- sitting
- blindfolded
- count down from 100, 1 count per breath out
- totally relax for a second or two at the end of each breath out, before breathing back in.
- slowly let my breath rate (and to a lesser extent heart rate) drop during this whole process.

Yup, you can meditate into an LD. Pretty much, it's just a more difficult variation on a WILD. Takes a LOT of practice, though.
Some Buddhist monks actually trained in LDing...

I love that floating feeling... I remember not wanting to open my eyes, as I knew I was drifting in a world that was not my own, but if I opened my eyes, I would be. (i.e. Quantum Physics > Observer effect)

Damn! You beat me to it!

But yes. I suppose WILDs could be seen as a sort of meditation-indiced lucid dream. Whether they're a more difficult variety is debateable though. From my experience, it's much easier to WILD using a sort of semi-meditation technique than it is to WILD via HI etc.

I just tried something. I tried your meditation technique, Faithless, and it worked quite well. When I got up to fifty, I sort of had this sinking feeling, but I didn't say any images or anything, when I up to seventy, I saw flashes of colours, mainly red, and when I finally did get to a hundred, I felt the falling feeling. Then I tried to count back down to zero, and as I was getting to ninety, I had an image of these girls saying "ok", and nothing more.

Eventually, when I got down to thirty, I said "when I count down to zero, I will be in a lucid dream", and I did that, and while I was counting, there were odd feelings everywhere, mainly that sinking feeling, and I saw a few images here and there, but nothing really vivid. When I finally did get to zero, I wasn't in a lucid dream, but I felt like I was going somewhere.

But me, being the dunce I am, opened my eyes instead of just staying there, thinking I had failed it. *shakes fist at self*
