When I first heard about LD I was so excited and happy! But then someone on gaia said if you dream for over 20 minutes you go into a coma. I talked to a medical proffessional and they were basically like thats b.s only sick -people go into comas (duh&#33 I know its retarded but my sub concious mind might be a little scared. Before I heard that I slept well but after I haven't been sleeping as well. I know its a load of crap what the kid said but Im still a little scared do you know how I can get over my little sleep / dream phobia so I can finally feel comftorable enough to go lucid?

Yeah. I have dreamed for hours on end. I did last Saturday, all morning.
The concept is completly unfeasable. Dreaming isn't a state of mind. It's an activity that occurs when many factors are met. You can have hypnagogic images, or see things without dreaming. You can sleep without dreaming. You can even dream without sleeping.
I'm not sure how to convince your subconscious that there is nothing to worry about, but don't you think you would have heard of this a lot more often if it was true? Wouldn't this be, instead, the "Survivors of those deceased individuals who used to lucid dream" Forum?

I promise. You can trust sloth.

I think that's a load of bullcrap. I once slept for two days and dreamed throughout. I'm still awake so don't take what people who don't know what they're talking about seriously.
And don't ask me why I slept for two days. I just did.
Lol, internet.

Yeah thats just stupid, people usually sleep for hours at a time. On average dream periods are around 3 hours. If you want to get over this fear try and be confident that its safe. If you take it day by day, I'm sure you'll be ok in a week

Oh and welcome to the forum

Well that can't be true because you dream for more than 20 minutes every single night. Your REM periods are on a cycle that gets longer and longer as the night progresses. Your first REM period is 5-15 minutes long but after 6-8 hours of sleep you're spending 45-60 minutes dreaming. If your subconcious is still nervous, do some research or ask a doctor.
