Do you think it's possible that those who 'aren't' having LDs at night (such as myself ) are just not remembering that they have one? In other words, they don't have a very good DR.

Because I was just thinking... I could be having LD's a lot, just not remembering I had them?

Yes it is possible; I woke up once and was trying to remember my dreams and having a hard time; when suddenly I remembered a little detail and a whole lucid dream came back to me (a really cool one). So if I hadn't been practicing recall, and really trying to remember, I would have forgotton and never known that I had that dream. Also, I did forget one that I remembered when I first woke up but I didn't write down; later I totally forgot the details, I only remembered that I had a long LD. (That was months ago and I am still mad about it, because I all I remembered was thinking at the time, wow that was the best and longest LD I ever had.)

Maybe people have LD's all the time and just don't remember them. However I don't really think that is the case for me, since I practice my recall and I think I am pretty good at waking up after dreams and thinking about them. Sometimes I am too lazy to get up and write them down, especially when they are totally lame, but I sure would get up and write a lucid down.

Yes, it's possible.. but I always remember the "going lucid" bit even if I can't remember specific details of the LD.

Heh. That makes no sense at all.. because I could be forgetting the "going lucid" bits from other LDs. No way of knowing one way or the other.

Yep, as the others said, it's totally possible. I know for a fact that I've forgotten about LDs I've had because I've remembered a couple of them later on in the day. I'm sure there are many more that I never recalled at all.

So yeah, dream recall is extremely important in getting started in LDing - because what's the point of working toward having an LD if there's a good chance you won't remember it?

That's why we usually tell people to keep a dream journal for awhile and work on recall until you are remembering at least one (preferably more) dream every night before starting with induction techniques.

That's really weird to think about

Anyways, I should be on my way to actually remembering my LD, because I remembered a dream last night (which was an extremely stupid and pointless dream, that I should have done a RC in).

      Thanks for the answers

It is certainly possible to forget Lucid Dreams. We can't really do an experiment to see if you forget them or something, simply because you forget them. I have forgotten some Lucid Dreams too, just like I forget Normal Dreams. Although I think I forget more Normal Dreams than Lucid Dreams. But that's quite obvious, because if I have good dream recall I have a lot more Normal Dreams.

If you suspect that you do have lucid dreams, but don't remember them you could try to remember in a dream to remember your dream. Maybe use a remembering gadget, so you won't forget it. I mean it is a lucid dream and you can decide what you want, maybe that works in remembering the dream.

Ah, like when I have AND remember a lucid dream, I should try and remember if I had them?

I mean when you're IN the lucid dream, you could tell yourself that you should remember the dream.

But the best suggestion is still to work on your dream recall.
