I was dreaming that I was getting chased in the woods by a bad guy (he was dressed in balck and trying to hurt me). Just when I started hiding I thought to myself "I'm sleeping. This is a dream. Look next to you, you're in bed with your husband."

Then, I "woke" up and looked next to me to see my husband sleeping soundly. But the thing was, I wasn't awake yet. I was still dreaming. So then I said to myself again, "You're still dreaming. Go back to sleep."

Then I went back to sleep in my dream and then FINALLY woke up in real life.

It was a crazy feeling when I finally woke up for real.

      Is that what it is?

And then when I woke up in real life, it was the same exact image as when I woke up in my dream. My husband was in the same position, the night sky was the same degree of color (it was almost dawn so it wasn't pitch black out) and the sheets were pulled half off me.

It is this realization that tells you you had a lucid dream. A lucid dream is simply a dream in which you know you are dreaming. Congratulations.

"Waking up" (without waking up) is called a False Awakening. They are very common with lucid dreams and are great cues for inducing another lucid dream. You found this out because you realized, during the FA, that you were still asleep.

Thanks! I really like this site. I had strange dreams the past few nights and decided to look up the themes in my dreams when I came upon this "lucid dreaming" and remembered the dream I had a few weeks ago. I'll never forget it...it was unreal!

Well, hopefully, there's plenty more where that came from.
Good luck with future lucids and, if you have any questions, just ask around.

sounds like a borderline, False Awakening/Lucid.
