Now then, it would be kinda senseless to just rewrite you post without leaving any of my own input. So here goes nothing.
First of all, no one can induce DILDs at will, unless I've missed something. Those who can actually induce lucid dreams "at will" (which is to say they can have certain lucid dreams at some points if they want to) always use some kind of direct induction technique like WILD or MILD. The reason for this is that DILDs, although it's possible to increase the chance of having one, will always require some degree of luck. After all, a DILD is what you get when you realize you're dreaming within the dream. Seeing as you are by definition not lucid before that happens, there's no way to make yourself realize you're in a dream.
Like I said, it is possible to increase your chance of having a DILD and the reason that this is generally a good technique for beginners, is that it's easy. For many people, the other two are harder (though this does not necessarily have to be difficult at all) to learn with the advantage that they're more stable.
Anyway, one way to increase your chances of having a DILD is doing as many reality checks as possible. The more you get used to doing it, the bigger the chance you'll do it in a dream, which will hopefully trigger lucidity.
Another thing that really helps is auto-suggestion. This simply means telling yourself you want to have a lucid dream before you go to bed. Also try to think about how cool your last LD was and about the things you want to try doing in your next one in order to look forward to it more. motivation is by far the most important factor in attaining DILDs. However, do not get frustrated if it doesn't work. Judging by your post, it seems like you have been. This really kills your motivation, and with that, you chance of having a DILD. Having patience and still looking forward to it combined with doing reality checks as often as possible really is the key.
All that being said, I should add once more that, even though this is a good way to start lucid dreaming, in order to actually have them each night, you (almost) definitely will have to teach yourself another method of induction.
