Ive been doing a method that's works most of the time. I wake myself after 5 to 6 hours of sleep. Then I go right back to bed and start counting each one of my breaths. When I get to 100 I start at 1 again. If you continue to do that until you start dreaming, you'll be doing it in your dream. In the dream you wonder why you're counting, and then you remember, and then you realize youre dreaming.

This is very similar to FILD, but worthwhile, nevertheless.

can't you just skip the whole having to get up after 5 or 6 hours and do this when you first go to sleep?

Probably not unless you're extremely tired, as this kind of technique typically only works really well when you're very tired.

Well it's sort of like a WILD, so it IS possible to do it when you first go to sleep I suppose. Although it would be VERY difficult. It works much better after waking up after a few hours.

You'll usually lose complete consciousness if you do it right when you go to sleep. It's best to do it in REM sleep.

Yeah, it sounds like a cross between MILD and FILD. I'm going to try it tomorrow night, though, sounds like a good method...

anyone else had success with this? i'm going to try it tonight
The trick is, you got to realise that you're dreaming in the first place.
You got to be able to recognize it.
You got to be able to ask yourself, " Hey, man, is this a dream?"

I have tried counting on every inhale and say I am dreaming on every exhale but can never get past 30 without having to swallow to produce spit in my mouth which ruins my focus
