i prefer the genre action or thriller and most/all of my dream are ridiculously action packed....this is also the same with the books that i read which are mainly action or thriller/adventure books...

does anyone else also find this to be true....

our dreams are funny things, my dreams seem to reflect on my current life, in the present, not past or future events, it has characters from my present waking life, its strange, there is an influence for everyones dreams, yours might be action movies whilst mine might be based of my present life, interesteing though, would be cool if you could switch your interest to a different genre and dream about that genre

I, like Lucid Seeker have dreams that reflect my current life, and I don't think movies play a big role, unless i watch something absolutely chilling inwhich case i may get disturbing dreams (and i do like horror) but onm the whole i see no correlation.

Movies dont have a lot of effect on dreams, unless you watch them every day for many hours. Videogames on the other hand do have effect on how the dreamer handles certain situations in a dream...

Yes.

They are a huge influence in dreams. (Mine, anyway) Check out my journal, sometime.

Yes, they do in my case. I am into historic or fantastic films and Deep Impact/The Day after Tomorrow kind of films, and my dreams very oftenly feature dead people (as ghost), wizards, strange creatures, mad scientists and tidal waves/hurricanes/whatever.
But there are exceptions. 2 nights ago I dreamed of a polar film I'd never watch in real life.

That's not precisely true. Even after watching a movie one time, you can have a lot of strange dreams as a result of it. For example, I just watched this movie Freddy vs. Jason, and I have been having a lot of annoying dreams involving Freddy Kruger (That's a bad person to dream about ). I'm sure you have watched a TV show or a movie that you later dreamt of, you probably just don't remember it.

Movies most definately. Two of my biggest reoccuring dreams are Terminators and Aliens. They also happen to be my favorite movies. Not so much book, I read a lot of fantasy but don't have dreams about it. Most take place in a current timeline vs. the distant past or distant future. I have yet to have any dreams about Warhammer40k, which really bothers me.
I sleep to dream.

It's usually the characters in movies that come over in the dream world for me. Like The Doctor ("Doctor Who" fan) will appear in my dream but we've never travelled through time or even discussed it. We talked about movies actually...

It's strange, what you think you'll dream about you won't. For example, when I first got my psp I only had one movie for it; Hitch. I watched Hitch every night for a week and a half and never dreamt about any of the characters, situations, actors, ect. ect. Don't ask me why I obsessively watched it...I don't even like the movie that much.

Anyway, I recall falling asleep to a movie and having a single person emotionlessly quote the movie but I acted like the person was giving me a lecture so I kept getting frustrated.

...indeed.

What I do has a big effect on my dreams.
I once had a recurring dream series of playing Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. But this was only after playing it once. It was so annoying I didn't play it for weeks
Then I had a series of dreams where I'm on a random forum. One of them, someone was posting that they just had a lucid dream and I remember thinking "Damn, I wish I could have a lucid dream!"

I don't watch movies as often, so they don't have as big an effect. I did have a dream I was watching The Day After Tomorrow once. And several dreams about the show Heroes ^_^

Still, the most epic six seconds I have ever experienced...

I still haven't figured out where my dreams stem from... They're usually not from movies...
So from what I've experienced my real life doesn't directly influence my dreams in visible ways. my dreams are so bizzare.

I had a dream that I had beaten the game once. The dream made sense, as well as the ending, so by the time I woke up I was convinced I had beaten Twilight Princess. It took me three days to figure out that I still had a game to beat.

A lot of times I've convinced myself that I have seen a movie that I just dreamt about. Somewhere in my mind I feel like I have seen said movie so I tell everyone that I have. Only when they start talking about the real movie do I second guess myself.

Mmm...

i don't doubt that they COULD stem from movies.. however, mine do not.
