This is my tip to ANYONE who wants to improve their dream memory or have a Lucid dream.

DO NOT USE AN ALARM CLOCK!!!

You gotta easily drift out of sleep, it's the only way to work-

I woke up this morning to the "BEEP BEEP GODDAMNIT BEEP".
I had absolutely no idea what the hell I was dreaming of, it's totally evil.

I suggest if you do want to use an alarm clock, try and use the ones that let you wake up to a radio station - and make sure it's like classical or something. Then set your wake-up time like 20 minutes before you usually do. That way you'll really slowly be able to wake up.

Gah there's my half rant half advise topic.

I see what your saying, but when i wake to my alarm clock which has a bell of some sort inside so it rings like mad, it gets me up instantly, i'm not stressed but i run to turn it off before it wakes up everyone else, i do agree that it can be annoying in the morning but how are people supposed to drift out of a dream when they are heavy sleepers, i'm a heavy sleeper and theres no way i'm going to wake up without an alarm clock. You do make a valid point, anyone who can drift out of their sleep should definately try it.

On the contrary, I tend to remember my dreams better with an alarm clock, but I have to think about it RIGHT after I turn it off or I will forget them.

I find that the very act of setting my alarm causes me to wake up a few minutes before it even goes off, as if my body knows it's time. Maybe I'm just a wierdo.

Yeah, it's our internal clock. I do the same thing, but only when I know I absolutely have to wake up for something important. Like the first few days of school, or a job interview, or christmas...etc.

Okay I'm taking your advice and setting my alarm clock to play Jazz/Classical whenever it buzzes.

Actually this isn't entirely true, though I do agree that most of the time I'm awaken by my alarm clock, it takes me forever if that to remember my dreams.

A few days ago, I remember setting my alarm clock to 6:20 in the morning. That night I had a dream where there was an annoying alarm clock beeping sound going off. I was aimlessly running around asking people why the alarm was going off and how to stop it, but I got no reply. I woke up at 6:24 with complete memory of the dream.

Good advise to set an alarm clock to something like classical music to wake up to in order to be able to remember your dreams, as an awful sounding alarm clock can not only destroy your dream recall, but can also provide a horrible way to start your day, being jolted out of your sleep that way. I use several talking alarm clocks to wake up to which have a cookoo sound and a rooster sound, which are fairly pleasant to wake up, although like Xnper, the act of setting the alarms usually causes me to wake up naturally before they even goes off.

Yea I agree about the being jolted out of sleep thing. I have my alarm clock (Computer) set up with a program my friend and I made so that 10 minutes before I am meant to wake up it starts playing a jazz station at slowly increaseing volume...I tend to wind up not useing it though as I wake up before my alarm clock anyway....I have sleeping problems.
