Having A Proper Lucid Dream?

Hey guys, i was wondering if anyone can tell me how to have a proper Lucid dream. Often i have dreams where i know i'm dreaming( which is the definition) i can mostly make my own decisions. Such as closing the door and locking it so a monster cant get it, or turning around the telling the monster it is simply ficiton( which kills them) but i dont seem to be able to do " anything". Many people mention Lucid Dreams were they can do anything, say.. make a gun appear in their hand, fly, make fire, make people appear/disappear etc I may be able to realise im dreaming and make sensible decisions,but im not making things happen, any ideas for helping me achieve this when i start to have a Lucid?

I find that whenever I'm doing anything I need to be very focused- whenever I'm flying in a dream the slightest deviation in concentration can result in losing altitude until I realize what's happening and re-focus. Some things are easier to do at different times...I'm not sure why, but sometimes things can be second nature and you barely need to put forth any effort- things just happen the way you want them to. Just stick with what you're able to do often in your dreams and work around that. Build your ability to maintain certain aspects, and try new things when you feel you're in real control.

I think you're veiwing it as too difficult. In 90% of my lucid dreams I have god-like control, simply because I should. It's your dream, there is no reason why you can't do anything. If you still find it hard to do things, try to convince your mind that it is possible, eg. I can shoot fire, In fact, I remember getting geneiticly altered yesterday to be able to do that. However, it is much easier to just realize that you can do anything.

Do me a favour.[/b] Being able to stop everything? What do you mean by that? I like to have things going, you know, so I can do stuff in my lucids. Also, "God-Like control" is a simile (sp?). It is to say that from an observer in your dream you would seem like a god, because you have such amazing control of the world around you. It is being used to compare you with a god.
