I have never really thought of this before. A post talking about using the bathroom in a lucid dream sparked this thought.
I have held a conversation with someone while lucid. So that tells me there is some control.
We do often mumble in our sleep. BUT we do also, at times twitch and flinch and move our bodies.

So.... If we our in a lucid dream and fully conscious of our actions within our dream, can we administer any control over our SP bodies?

actually I think SP is not there all the time while you sleep.. that way, you would be able to move when not in some specific part of sleeping

I believe SP is mostly there so that you don't move while dreaming (maybe that's why some people manage to get up, have a glass of water, and go back to bed while asleep ; SP might not work too well for them)

Agreed. It makes sense that we may do things unconciously in our SP bodies, but I don't think it would make sense that we would be able to take control over them from our dreams. I guess the research just hasn't been done. EWOLD mentions people actually memorizing eye patters (look up, down, left, right) and doing them in their lucid dreams. Apparently those are visible to those observing the dreamer.

I have been able to move my real thumb while in a lucid dream; I tried to lift my hand and scratch myself on my back, but everything but my thumb was paralyzed. It feels weird moving one's real body and dream body at the same time, but it works.

Was there an outside observer to factultize this?
The reason I ask is because I have tried to talk before. It seemed as though I had but I have no idea if it was a manifestation of my lucid dream or real.
I have finally had a conversation with my wife. Which finally made it "real"
I have a post about that somewhere.

That's cool. Maybe you could devolpe this somehow. Imagine how it would help sleep researchers. People could tell the outside world what is going on!

That would be quite an achievement.
More so than Laberge moving his eyes in sequence. Because our eyes are not subject to SP.

If I could just find a way to make these more frequent I might have more of a chance.

I say anyone that reads this...give it a go.
I know I have consciously snapped my self out of SP after waking up. That too adds to the possibility of control over paralysis.

I didn't need an outside observer. I could feel my thumb and knew it was it.

Unless you could see this how did you KNOW?
With all due respect the mind can be pretty believable in a subconscious state.
Perception is reality and reality is not always what it seems.

i've moved my arm before. laying on my back with my arms folded over my stomach attempting to WILD, after the dream had manifested completely i noticed my arm was going numb because of pressure on my elbow, so i moved it to my side, it eventually went back to warm normalness. i know i moved it because it was positioned acordingly when i got up after maybe 2 hours, what i dont know is if i had SP or not in the first place... is it possible to dream and not be paralized?
forgive the terrible spelling if there is any
      ,,v-_-NF
*this was a long time ago* now that i think about it, i wasnt able to get up imediately, so i think SP eventually did set in... idk, you tell me?

Because I could feel it as I said. Vision is not the only sense, you know.

I am assuming that you are in a lucid dream, correct?
If that is the case, your eyes are closed.
So with smell, taste, touch and sound how are you differentiating your sensory perception form your dream world to that of the waking one?

Yes, I was in a lucid dream, of course. And I was able to know my thumb was moving in reality because it feels more in reality than in lucid dreams.

Interesting idea; having control over the physical SP'ed body while still dreaming...
*adds to my 'List of Things to do while LDing'*

Assuming you had full control over your body and things were relatively quiet, wouldn't it be hypothetically possible to stay sleeping all day? I wonder...
      LD Count: 7
Longest time in a lucid dreamstate: ~6 seconds

Still, the most epic six seconds I have ever experienced...

Don't do it; it will destroy the dream and cause you to awaken. It is not that impressive of an experience, altough it is pretty cool.

Yeah, I figure you'd probably end up waking yourself up with this one, so I'll think I'll leave this to the more experienced LDers and enjoy every moment of Lucidity I get.

Have you ever had a lucid where you could not distinguish reality from your dream?

I had woken myself up due to the fact that I was excited. ( a similar case to many peoples lucid experiences) If I had kept my wits about me and stayed calm I do not see why I could not have continued.

No. I am always able to spot whether it is reality or dream, so far anyway. But I have had lucids with very good graphics, looking nearly as realistic as reality itself.
