So, the other night I had a LD where I stole someones peppermint out of her purse that she had just bought. (I know, it was weird.)

Anyway, it tasted just like the real thing.

I wonder if, once you're to the point where you can LD nearly "on demand" (I'm mostly to that point now) if you could use this as a calorie-free "diet plan". I mean, obviously it wouldn't fill you up in reality, but perhaps you could use it for a chocolate cake fix (or whatever) when you're super-craving it. That way, you'd still get the feeling of having eaten it so *maybe* you wouldn't want it as much.

OR

The reverse might be true--dreaming about it makes you want it more IRL.

What do you all think?

I read somewhere that a woman that couldnt stop eating, learned lucid dreaming and eated all she wanted in her dreams. She didnt have the demand to eat all the time during the day ( real life ).. So yeah, I think it works.

Yeah, I thought about the chocolate thing same day ago too.
I really like chocolate, but it gives me zitts. And when I want chocolate I only want it for the moment, and I guess eating chocolate in a dream would help..

Be sure too PM me if you get any results.

In ETWOLD is referred a case of a man who is on diet and finds comfort in LD.

In my experience, I m chocolate addicted -I think. I mean i need a chocolate at least every day.
I have no particular problem with that, it doesn't affect my silhouette or health, at list not yet.

Once I ate chocolate in one of my early lucids just to try the sense of taste.
It was the richest chocolate flavor I ever tasted. It was perfect.
I was so much satisfied from that chocolate that I didn't had the urge for chocolate for the next two days -too long for me.

Yes, I actually did this.

In January I starting eating Raw Vegan. It took a while to lose those sugar and cooked food cravings. So the first Lucid dream I had after I started, I was able to create a plate of peanut butter chocolate chip cookies (the food I had been craving) and eat them all. And it was satisfying.

I'm sure I could do it again if I felt the need.

The other night, when I became lucid I created a cave made out of pizza, and flew around gorging myself silly. I never really thought about being able to taste in a dream until then. I didn't feel like eating anything unhealthy for quite a few days, so I can imagine this would be a great idea for dieting.

Just thinking about it now, I'd think that when I woke up from a lucid dream after having just eaten chocolate cake, for example, I would crave it more. It's never actually happened to me, but I would imagine that once I woke up and realized I hadn't actually eaten it, I want to go to the kitchen to get me some real chocolate cake. It could be different once it actually happens to me, though.

I wouldn't mind knowing the answer to this little problem.

I guess it depend on how vivid was your dream.
If it was REALLY vivid you wouldn't need to eat in waking life.
It's like you wake up, and you just ate a big satisfying piece of cake. Would you want more?
That's my experience at least. Maybe it's different for each one.

Another idea is to eat so really huge quantities! It's calorie free remember?

Well chocolate's not actually all that bad for you...
It's not the sugar/oil that causes the pimples, it's the hormones that drive you to eat those foods that cause them. It's a correlation nothing more. Dark chocolate's actually pretty darn good for so eat as much as you like . well not too much, but you get my drift.

Still, you feel kinda sick after you eat too much chocolate, it'd be nice too eat as much as you like without feeling bad afterwards

I wish I could do that. Unfortunately I ate a plate (um, yea, 6 of them) of peanut butter chocolate chip cookies IRL before bed last night (no joke, I had to laugh when I read your post). I am actually trying the LD diet as part of my Deprivation-ILD (which I obviously went off of yesterday, but I was running late, etc...). I would like to eat in my dreams, but also I would like eating to be a DS that I can use to get lucid.

Anyway, good luck on that diet TwoShadows. Three months, that's great. I'd like to go there but I haven't gotten that far yet. (What did you think of my gruel mixture recipe? Except for the whey part?) At least I bought the cookies at a health food store...

As a vegan I'm curious to know what my mind would conjure up if, in a lucid, I ended up eating something crazy like scrambled eggs. It would even be funny just to drink a glass of (cow's) milk.

After nearly 10 years, I have no idea what these things taste like anymore. But maybe my subconscious remembers...

A vegan is somebody who has chosen not to eat, wear, purchase, or otherwise utilise animal products.

Moonbeam, that made me laugh, too, about the cookies. I'm not sure what there is about peanut butter chocalate chip cookies.

Let's take this diet/food discussion to my dream journal (or we could go to PM), because I don't want to completely hijack this thread. But I have been wanting to talk with you about a few things since you seem to be fairly health minded too. .

couple weeks ago i had a dream (non LD) where i started to eat a jar of peanut butter. But iunno what peanuts taste like, I'm allergic. So, anyway, I was in limbo on what peanuts actaully tasted like after that.

I guess because you are worried about eating nuts it may come up in dreams. That could be a dream sign for you.

It's fantastic that there are so many that have tried eating in a dream. LOL I hadn't thought of a vegan attempting to eat an animal by-product. That's cute. I'll have to tell my vegan friend about that.

Calling it an "animal by-product" is a good way to not want to eat it. I may use that IRL next time I want a bunch of cookies--they may have ABP's, yuk!

You know, ya'll are really making this hard. If you want to stop eating junk food there are plenty of vegan substitutes, for those who can afford it, at the healthfood store. If the vegan thing is what you are worried over. IF it is just a matter of crave control or dieting, do what I do: just chew the product in question and spit it into a cup. What you crave is the oral sensation not the stuff in your guts. You'll also be grossed when you see the bulk of the stuff in the cup and you'll be glad it isn't in your guts. This reduces cravings also. Or watch one of those shows that show how this junk food is made. Nothing more gross than seeing all that sugar being processed.

You can always buy fresh ground peanut butter at the healthfood store. Doesn't taste as good as the sugary stuff from the store though.

I'd like to write a Buddhist like note here: don't get all extreme. Walk the middle path. I'd love to be as Vegan as possible but my finances, access to the healthfood stores and such is limited. The only things that I eat that aren't vegan are yogurt for the bacteria-they don't have Soy Yogurt locally or I'd buy that-, Diet Coke, and Little Debbie Snack Cakes. I love animals, I love nature and have always felt one with it. I love bugs and grass and get all spiritual over trees and such, but I also live in the real world and have issues. All you can do is your best and try to be a good person. Don't hate yourself because you are not perfect.
