Hey, i was sat outside today enjoying the good weather we've been having, and i began to think, bare with me because trying to put it into words now is difficult, sorry if this is not understandable.

I began thinking about how lucidity is so awesome, how the capabilities of your imagination are alot better than waking life, i then began to think that if i were given the choice of living my life awake or just a forever lucid dream which would i choose, though the dream world enables you to create and sculpt the past, present and future, it has limitations, for example if you make a friend in the dream world you are in theory being your own friend, it is all your design, your rules, if you make friends in your waking life they have individual feelings for you, not just a figment of your imagination, is this feature of waking life better than that of your imagination?

The next thing i began to think about is that because your dream world has no set rules you can do what you want, but we as humans have adapted to live by rules, we break them every so often but most of the time we stick to them, this lead me to think that a world with no boundaries could get boring and you would start to miss a place with rules, though in theory you could create rules in your dream world but after all you will always be the administrator, if you get tired of these rules you can always change them, but in waking life we can break them every so often but if we go too far we get put back in line, we can't change something that is not controlled by us after all, this questions is difficult for me to answer, would i prefer a waking life that is structured by rules or a dream world controlled by me?

These sort of things interest me, i mean once i die i think that it would be awesome if i entered the dream world forever but then it leads to the thought of when the brain shuts down after death, nothingness, its almost impossible to imagine, infact we can't imagine it because we can't imagine not existing, in fact i suppose i can't really call myself an athiest anymore because i am constantly questioning what is after death.

Sorry if all the above is off topic and pointless but after thinking about all this stuff i really wanted to share it with someone, once again sorry just in advance, i do like to let my mind wander.

      Comments are welcome

Actually that was VERY interesting. I think what you just talked about is something that every Lucid Dreamer has thought about at least once.
I personally think that we all need both 'worlds'. We need a world bounded by rules and unpredictable events. But we also need to be in a world created by our own minds, once in a while. So we can experience things that we have in mind, things that would not normally happen in real life. So we can use these experiences to improve our waking life. And we can also use our experiences in the waking life to improve the realisticness of our dream-life. (if that makes any sense&#33

Yes all of that did make sense lol, i do agree that we need a bit of both, but in life there is the boundary of death whilst in the dream world you could simply bring yourself back

      I third all of that.

We dont need the dream world...but it greatily enchances things..it sets you apart from others and you are no longer limited to reality.

I know for a fact i wouldnt want to live in a LD...the most precious part of life is emotional connections, relationships, and other people.

In a LD i realize you can make relationships/friends, and thats great, but after a while i think i would get greatily depressed by the lack of human contact.
If a DC dosnt like you...you kill it? You are a tyrant, a dictator.
They dont love you, they are a illusion, so really the thought of being stuck in a LD for eternity is kinda scary.

I think it would be amazing to stay in lucid for maybe a week...any longer then that...i think i would get deepily depressed.
