i feel your pain, my recall will just suck for no reason, you do have dreams every night but you may not necesserily be remembering them, i havn't had a lucid in ages, i suggest that you carry on but if this problem persists just take a break maybe for a week or two, then try again, it may work, i myself am sick of trying and failing, but thats me, it may work for you, good luck

You don't "not get any dreams." You just don't remember the ones you have.

My advice would be to stop trying for a while. Stress can hurt dream recall, and chances are that if you stop worrying about it so much for a bit you'll remember one soon enough, or part of one. As soon as you remember any bit of a dream, no matter how small the detail, write it down. Even if it's just a feeling from a dream you had when you woke up (scared, happy, etc.). But don't try to force yourself to remember them right now- that could do more harm than good. Eventually, it will become more natural.

i know exactly what you mean, you can try and remember a dream by willing it, but there's not really a direct button that you can press which makes sure that you definately remember your dreams, i find the same problem happening to me, i always put in the intention every night and i manage to fail, i just don't get it

I understand it must be very disheartenig for you. I also would recommend having a break for a couple of weeks or so and attack them again with renewed enthusiasm. Try and put the last 5 months behind you and go for it as if you were just starting out. I would use WBTB as well;

1. You can use it to improve dream recall.
2. You can use it to improve your chances of having a lucid dream.

One final thought, have you considered adoption?

Whats probably dashign your recall is probably right when you wake up.

You can think of a memory (of a dream or whatnot) as a chain. Find one end of the string and you can work your way all the way through by searching for the connectors.. All you need is that final connector that happens when you wake up.

Now, that often slips our mind and the whole memory falls from our grasp when we wake up because our minds are flooded with other thoughts. Ironically, "Was I lucid" is one of these such thoughts and is often the foremost. Not much you can do bout it but theres some things that can help.

Wake up "softly". This means by your own accord and not because of alarm clocks or noise. I'd been havign crud recall all week. Then, today I woke before my alarm because I'd left my blinds open and the sun had woken me softly by illuminating my room. I woke up was like "ahhhhh" and had the last part of my dream fresh in my mind.

I think you might be trying TOO HARD. Sometimes it's not good to be TOO MOTIVATED. You should take short breaks everyonce in a while.
The only other problem I can think of is that you might not be getting enough sleep. You need at least 8,9 hrz of sleep every night to get better at dream recall.
You should also try taking some Vitamin B6. I've been trying that for about 2 weeks now and I can assure you that it works really well in making your dreams more vivid. Just take a 50mg B6 pill about 1 hour before going to bed everynight , you will notice the effects after abour 3, 4 days.

One more thing ... what do you actually mean by 'PRACTISING LDing' ? ... What induction methods are you using. Perhaps you're not using the methods that are most suitable for you.
Anyways , take a sure break (1 - 2 weeks maybe) and start again, but try to gain as much info. as you can about LDing induction methods and Lucid Aids , during these two weeks.

Good Luck

I've been trying for almost a year now and have only got a few very low-awareness lucids. But I think that's because I'm not actually trying very hard at all. During the summer, I'll stop using my alarm clock, use B6 some more, and I'll try out that brainwave generator thing for lucid dreams on the I-Doser program.

5 months? 1 year? Pshaw... I've been at this for 12 flipping years & still no lucids.

There's one guy's sig that says something to the effect that "just about when you're about to give up is when you'll get some results" & that's where a lot of us are at. My recall has only been getting better and better lately. Confidence is everything. LD'ing is kinda like packaging smoke to a certain extent, you have to want it but not too much (if that makes any sense). If you're not trying you're not likely to succeed and conversely if you're trying "too hard" you'll get nil results too. Somewhere in the middle is the delicate balance we all seek.

Good luck.. and don't push too hard. Relax and try to let it come naturally.

smooches,

A lot of people say don't try to hard. but that theory doe's not work for me.
The harder I try the better result's I get.

Have you ever spent a day doing RC's like every 10 minutes, all day long? I tried that once, I did as many as possible, and it worked--broke a dryspell I was having (credit goes to ivey, her method).

Worth a try maybe, if you have a day that you don't have to do much else.

dude, just try to remember right after you wake up and it will happen, when you dream you allways feel something happened between getting asleep and waking up, and then it will come to your mind miracously.

I try and hold the thought, is this a dream right now, all day long.
And I keep asking myself, where am I and what am I doing?
And who am I with? And I look for dream signs constantly.

Doing this, also brings my dream recall into clear and vivid detail.

I'm not having much luck either. I used to feel sleep paralysis come on during naps often enough when I was younger. Nothing ever happened during nighttime sleep and I don't have expectations there. My problem is finding nap time!

Well, just trying to lift your spirits..
You may have already had some lucids ,but you might just not recall them.
i know, sounds like a bummer.

yeah, like they say -- don't try lucid dreaming without having a decent dream recall abilities.
and if its really hard for you to recall dreams, you should use some techniques to get you started!
for example, setting an alarm clock to wake you up during a dream. these are always easy to recall.

I know although it's more rewarding etc. if you do it with no lucid aids but have you thought of taking some B6. Maybe take 100mg every 2nd night for a week? And some melatonin too...

Keep trying! And if all else fails, take a break for a fortnight! Don't think about it too hard

Yesterday I had my first Lucid dream in 10 months (that's TEN fucking months)

At the moment my dream recall sucks and I didn't really try hard.

I woke up after about 6 hours of sleep because I heard my parents and decided to stay in bed for another hour until they're gone. I thought I could try to have an LD, but I didn't do anything and fell asleep again. I remember waking up a lot during that hour. Then I heard my parents leaving and stood up. I quickly realized that something wasn't right and thought "I must be dreaming". I forced my eyes open and stood up again and realized I was dreaming. It took 3 repeats until i knew that I was having FAs. I stood up again but this ime walked over to my window and began climbing through it. I started to doubt that it was a dream but those doubts quickly cleared up when my foot glided through the glass of my window. I flew above my house and tried to recreate another LD I had. I only managed to make the sun shine and change the trees into palms before I lost focus and woke up.

I'm sure if you take a break from Lucid dreaming, then start again from scratch and don't try too hard your dream recall will come back.
