Good post.. and Nice quotation of Bruce Lee.. I have fighting dreams often.. I never have trouble with punching slow however, I tend to lose lucidity through the feeling of winning or losing the fight. I do like putting a DC in a Kimura lock just before losing lucidity though....grrrr.

Same thing happens to me in non lucid dreams whenever i fight or try running away from some crazed gun wielding maniac it feels like im in mollasis but im very agile in lucid dreams but i feel no need to fight because there is no danger any way.

I never have a problem with fighting in my dreams. I've never felt heavy limbs and stuff in my dreams in the first place...

I have the SAME exact problem. I am a huge MMA fan and actually train Muy Thai fighting and have a background in wrestling. Fighting has just always been one of my passions. Therefor, I dream about fighting once every other night in the least, and most of the times one of two things happen:

My swings are WAY to slow

      and/or

I miss, everytime. And continually miss with follow ups.

But! Lately as I have gained more confidence in my fight game I have noticed my dream fights turn out better.

I think alot of people exprience this because for every person confrontation and friction somehow sub consciously link to fighting and fighting is a big event to most people and is usually a natural way of self defense from "flight or fight" so not being able to fight something or someone properly is probably a big unoticed subconscious fear for people, therfore playing out in your dreams.

I have the same problem in non-lucids - but strangulation works fine!

The slow-mo thing is a bit of a dreamsign for me and often turns a dream lucid. Running through treacle and trying to pull at objects as I pass them to go faster... so weird. Perhaps its more the fear of what I'm running from that induces lucidity though? I'm such a coward in my dreams that most nightmares (or even just mildly ominous dreams) induce lucidity e.g. I'm being chased into a dead end, then I fly out, and its like "WTF?", or I just get half-woken by the adrenaline, realise I have a sleeping body, then go back in before I fully wake.

Another related problem: when I'm trying to shoot someone/ something, if I tip the gun past horizontal, the bullets just roll out of the end - or if it does fire at all, they come out with virtualy zero kinetic energy.

      Freudian fear of impotence???

Always has varied with me. Sometimes good, sometimes bad, sometimes "huh?" that didn't make make sense. Have you guys found no problem, in a dream, swinging a punch, very fast, striking someone in the face, and they just stare at you? The punch was no problem, it could have knock out a freakin polar bear in real life, but for some reason it had absolutely no affect on the recipient. Attempt again and again, but still no affect. Ever had one of those?

I have this problem sometimes, and for me it's a control issue. If you're trying TOO hard to do something, it's sending a signal to your subconscious that you aren't very good at it and your control is fading.

Say for example, you want to fly in an LD, so you run REALLY fast and you try as hard as you can to jump into the air to fly, but you land 20 feet later with no flight. The flight won't be so vivid, and it'll end quickly.

I have found that if you do an action as simply as possible, without over exerting yourself, you send a message to your subconscious that it's very easy to do and you have total control. Using the same example, if you simply lift your hands you'll begin to float and then fly, instead of trying extremely hard to do something. The flight will be way more intense.

In one of my LDs, I was on a highway and I had Magneto's power where I could control all things metal. Anyway, I was on the highway and as the cars were heading towards me, all I did was a flick of my wrist (like he did in the movie) and the cars flew off the highway and exploded in midair. I didn't do a THING, just a flick of my wrist and I was able to destroy 30-40 cars. I also picked up a huge semi-truck and made it collide with another. That was an awesome LD

So don't try too hard. Just do the action as if you're convinced it's the easiest thing in the world.

Very true. I find that when I do things in a very casual manner it's much easier. When I let subtle doubts or practicalities creep in then things are tougher to accomplish. I've got to remember this for my own benefit as well.

I remember when i was young like 3-4 i would have dreams about trying to punch chucky, i was so scared of him when i was younger. my arms moved so slow when i tried punching him and it discouraged me in my dream and seemed to give him power
.........but now when i have fighting dreams i kik butt, i bring the blood when i fight in my dreams. i would just punch untill they werent moving. i also remember stepping on a guys head and dragging it on one of those extremely rough concrete encasings of houses. kinda like grinding a coffee bean on a box grader.
