I can feel myself laying on the bed, and I can tell that I'm practically awake, and what's happening in the so-called "dream" seems as though it's just my thoughts, like as if I had just closed my eyes and started picturing things, not like a thriving environment or anything.... Like just close your eyes now, and picture something. That's what my lucid dreams seem to be like, which isn't very thrilling.... So is this what lucid dreaming is really like? Or do you think this will change in the future, with more experience (I've been LD'ing for like two years now, I'm just not very good at it)?[/b]
Lucid dreams can be as real, as vivid as real life; sometimes even more so. What you're experiencing is nowhere near what a lucid dream should feel like, so keep trying.
From the sound of it, it seems like you're sort of waking up once you become lucid. This can happen a lot due to the huge excitement of finding out "hey, I'm dreaming!" When you become lucid, try by all means to stay calm... there are many techniques out there, but you can try focusing on something, rubbing your hands, or spinning around. If you can feel your body as soon as you become lucid and the dream seems to fade away right at that moment, then you probably woke up from the dream... try to follow the steps on the Dream Reentry Tutorial.
How good is your dream recall? Do you have a dream journal? Keep in mind that it will help you with vividness, and recall. How vivid are your regular dreams? Lucid dreams should be at least as vivid and realistic as regular dreams, sometimes even more so... and it has the bonus of you being able to do whatever you wish.
Good luck on your upcoming lucid dreams!
