When we dream and sleep are memory is stabilized, when we lucid dream this changes are brain functions. Now I was wondering if lucid dreaming will improve your memory in the long run or mess up your memory. I would say improve, well unless all you do in lucid dreams are having sex or violence. Well in normal dreams memory is stabillized subconsciously, however in a lucid dream your memory would be treated differently as you are conscious. Also would being conscious all the time change your brain, as meditation increases the size of your brain, being conscious alway would probley do the same.
Well if you can lucid dream at will and anytime, I guess you would have various advantages over normal people. I read a article about people who nap have a higher IQ then people who don't, I wonder if people who can lucid dream good have a higher IQ then normal people. On the other hand evolutionary speaking we are messing with sleep, which is important to memory i.e. lucid dreaming people might get dumber.
Intill I people take mRI scans of lucid dreamers then we don't know the true effect lucid dreaming has on the brain, however if it increases activity it would improve memory massively. I remeber a experiment with rats were they increases brain activity during sleep and this reversed memory loss.
