Has anyone else noticed how so many of the members on DV seem to be between the ages of early teens to about 20? Most of the administrators and moderators are a bit older. I'm 14 myself. #

Why are there so few of the older generation on DV? Do they even know about LDing? My parents weren't very interested when I told them about it - are all older people like that?

Just thought I'd comment on it

And I suspect that the older generations don't use the internet nearly as much as you youngins.

haha, owned on the age limit. I'm 22 and I enjoy LDing. Uhm, my dad has been a natural LDer since he was... youngish? Dunno exactly. However, he's been LDing since he was in his teens.

Well, good question. I think the biggest point is that most people on dreamviews found out about lucid dreaming Trough in the internet. Old people are both less likely to find out about lucid dreaming, and less likely to end up talking about it on the internet.

And maybe mos old people are not as open-minded as younger people.

Older people spend most their time telling stories of the past, or being retired and enjoying the finer things in life.. us youngins explore life... the older people watch it finish them! We're explorers, they're voyeurs

I have been thinking of another question. When is it right to teach your children to LD and should it be done early.

Well obviously I don't think she meant everyone. There is always exceptions. Seeker would be one. Though I think for the most part DDK is right, that most of the older crowd have brought explorations to an end, and live with what they have found. Which is not really bad at all. Actually its pretty good. It leaves more discoveries for future generations, so in a way it could be considered generous.

Whoah I looked this up in the lounge and must've clicked reply as it was mpved because it said I couldn't reply of something and I did it again and same thing happened. I thought I was banned or something

But yeah I'm 17, I think its just that on average the younger generation are more on the internet so thats probably why.

Well I'm afraid I'm a senior member, I'm 29
Maybe most people lose interest in dreams as they get older because they have too many concerns in waking life. Also the desire to experiment new sensations is very strong in younger people. I've been interested in dreams all my life, but I also enjoy learning new things whenever I get the chance, more than most people of my generation. I feel younger than my friends in that sense

Well, Im almost 18 now, my Dad is big into Dreaming. He got me into it when I was very young. I didnt really practice it then though, I just knew about it. I wish I wouldve started earlier. In my opinion, teaching your kids about it at a young age is a good thing.

I'm 15. I told my parents and they didnt care either. Neither do most of my friends though so I cant say its just old people.
I had a strange dream last night...

I always assumed it was a more adult topic? I don't know, when I think of LD, I think of it not in the sense of "wow I can do anything, yay!" the biggest thrill for me is the idea of it, the idea that I'm exploring alternative forms of consciousness. I find is soooo fascinating.

I'm 21 by the way, I thought I would be a youngin on this board, but I suppose i'm in the middle somewhere.

Yep, when I was you guys age, We had to learn about cool things like lucid dreaming from books, I meen holy jebus!

I don't spend as much time on the internet as you young whippersnapers, but I bet I'm way beyond most of you sitting at my computer. I currently log about 10-14 hours a day pounding on the keyboard.

Im not sure if its so much a age reltated thing but more so a fear of sounding stupid because I find if I talk to anyone about it alone no mater how old they are its more likely they will listen but if I speak in groups of people they just laugh and think im some kind of dodgy mentalist ha ha

Also I think its more acceptable in society for the younger people to be into this sort of thing as people expect as you get older you probs shouldnt think of this becasue its kind of a strange thing to talk about if you know what I mean lol

Im almost 23.....dam im getting old ha ha

I really just think that with the internet, new movies and new research and developments and such...that lucid dreaming is more of a younger generation thing. Young people flood the internet. We've all seen Vanilla Sky and movies like this. We're reading and learning about LDing from new books and new info being presented. So to me, I think of it as a younger generational thing. I bet that the generations after us will be lucid masters.

Woah that was a lot of feedback... i love the word Whippersnappers

btw why is there an age restriction on DV? There's nothing offensive or disturbing on here... is it a legal thing or what?

well, I think that with all the games out of people with superpowers, that kids are bound to do a search on the power that they wantand go to a certain site. Then that site leads to another and eventualy you learn about LDing and say "wow I can get superpowers just by sleeping!" and here they are.

sadly, I am one of those people. that's why I spend a lot of time in the "beyond Dreming" section. not for superpowers, but for OBE's.
