      Calling all Naturals

Ever since I joined this forum and started reading some of the posts, I was amazed that people have never even had LDs before. I've been having LDs my entire life. I probably have them at least once a week. When I actually try, I can generally get whenever I go to bed. I also noticed that there a lot of threads that say "I had an LD!" For me, LDs are very common and there's nothing to really get excited about. But don't get me wrong though, I enjoy my LDs just as much as the next guy. I just have them a lot.

I realize that the majority of this forum is full of non-naturals. This is why I want to get to know some of the naturals on this site.

I'm not trying to put down any of the non-naturals on this forum. Everyone is free to post your opinions in this thread if you want to

Hey there! I having been having lucid dreams since I was a child, long before I ever heard the term "lucid dreams." My mother and my youngest brother also have lucid dreams. Maybe this is silly, but I wonder if there is maybe a genetic predisposition?

      Yo, =P

what method best describes what you do when you DO try? Mines the VILD.

And for families having lucids, its probably more along the frame of mind. You might have been taught by your mom to doubt this more and presto, you realize you're dreaming!

I too am a natural LDer. I have been having lucid dreams my entire life, but I joined this forum because I had some severe stress that really threw my sleep habits out of wack, and so it was getting harder and harder for me to LD.

I recently just ended my two month long dry spell and now I am having about one LD a week. I hope to improve this with time.

I think that everybody had mild Ld's as a child to wake themselves up from nightmares as did I. But I have had to learn lucid dreaming now that I am older.

Well now that you mention it. I've had lucid Dreams for as long as I can remember, especially in my childhood. Then my dreams were "killed' in my teenages for years and years. Later I read up on Lucid Dreaming, figured that it was what I have had in my youth and got back into it. Allthough I haven't had Lucid's in QUITE a while now andI'm haviong a Dryspell it does make me a Natural.

My dad is a very strange person. He's extremely musically talented, plays guitar bizarrely well, sings while at the same time he's an ignorant fool and somewhat materialistic at times.

I asked him if he ever had a Lucid Dream and explained what it was( "did you ever have a dream where you KNEW it was a dream?") and he replied: "yeah that sometimes happens"

I've asked this question to alot of people. Many say they have had one or more but they seem so NOT-enthusiastic that I think they either completely misunderstood me or might have had some incidental very low level lucids that weren't at all impressive.

My dad said: "yeah that sometimes happens" which sounds alot more like how I would describe my LD-frequency. Now that I think of it he might have the same spontanious Lucids I have. Spontaniously and somewhat frequently.
I'm gunna have to ask him about it.

I met a girl at EFY who could naturally lucid dream. It made me mad cause I try really hard and can't do it very well and want to, and she can do it whenever she wants but usually "gives her self up to the dream" (as she says) because she'd rather just dream normally. that makes me depressed that people can have that gift and take it for granted. Sorry for posting if you didn't want any "non-naturals" here!

I never naturally had LDs through my life. There were a good amount of times where I "knew" I was dreaming, but that is different than being Lucid. I have also had really good natural dream recall.

Ever since reading the site, I have become a very blessed natural LD'er. My average amount of LD's are in my signature below....

And to be quite honest I don't put anywhere near enough effort into it as I should.

Heres how it usually happens for me:

I go to sleep. Wake up naturally in the mornings...simply "think" about LDing...then I miss a beat sort of, as if I naturally fall asleep, and then naturally I always seem to be looking at a dream and my conscious mind almost does the work for me and awakens as soon as I can see the dream world.

I feel very blessed and lucky, and try not to take it for granite.

I know EXACTLY what you mean Ska. I'd say roughly about 2/3rds of the people I begin to explain it to say "Yea I have those sometimes"

However I highly doubt that they experience what we experience. I believe SOME people do it naturally, but I believe more that most people "think" they have them, or even possibly:

Sometimes "know" that they are in a dream. But this is different than being "aware" that you are dreaming- Which is what produces the experience we feel.

I remember thinking I had a few natural LD's through my life, and then I had my first true one and threw that idea right out the window.

Interesting it would be however, if your dad really does have natural LDs- We could bring up the possible theorization that genes somehow relate to natural/succesful LDing?

Yeah well as a kid nI didn't have the insane high level lucids I had later when I got back into it. (I believe IO was 19 when I got back into it and registered an account on Dreamviews)

But in my youth, allthough not fully lucid and without dreamcontrol, I did have some lucids that were quite amazing nevertheless:

I would have alot of nightmares in my youth. I mean like more than 7 years ago. All my Lucids back then were a way to get OUT of a dream if it turned malicious. I remember one Dream in particulair where I was in the Metro and some guys were chasing me but they were in another wagon. When the metro stopped at a station (from reallife) I got out and so did those guys. It was very sunny and I felt paranoid. I somehow didn't come to the realisation but just thought: "I need to get out of this dream and wake up!" as if all along I half/half knew I was dreaming. Here's what I did.

As those guys were approaching me on the metrostation I put both my indexfingers and thumbs into my eyes and opened up my (allready opened) eyes and I awoke. I had more nightmares like these but then usually I would have false awakenings instead. One occasion I was just floating off into a Dream. And from the great "Darkness" behind my closed eyelids formed a Dream: I noticed right away, feeling the atmosphere, it was going to be a bad bad dream and so I decided to withdraw from it back into the dark and enter another, hopefully more pleasant, dream.

      Pretty strange.

      *raises hand*

yep I'm a natural too. I've never really had to try induction techniques because I get spontaneous DILDs quite frequently.
