      Yay

It's been a while since I've been on here, even though I was still new when I was actively posting.. haha, but I have returned, yay.

I had my first lucid dream the other night ! It was nothing like I thought it would be.. the reality checks didn't do anything for me. I was dreaming, and all the sudden, I had an epiphany.. I was dreaming ! It was really hard not to get so excited that I'd wake up, but I remembered someone had said to spin to keep yourself from waking up, so I was like, okay, spin. Apparently controlling what you do is a lot harder than first assessed. It was more or less as if I was in a movie and the camera was spinning around my head, but I couldn't see very well. Then I was like, okay, I'm going to walk over there. I cant remember where I was, I couldn't see very well. So, I think to myself, walk over there. And nothing happens. Haha, doing what you want to is a little harder than I thought. Then I was like, maybe if I try to change locations. I'm not sure if *I* did it, or my dream just changed settings, but I ended up in the middle of the sky, just standing there. I was like, whoaaa, so all the sudden I was back where I started. Then I either cant remember, or I woke up.

But I do have some questions. Is there anyway that I could see better in my dreams ? It always seems like I'm groggy in them because I can hardly see anything. And also, is there any way, besides to just keep trying, that would help with actually controlling my own actions in my dreams ?

      Thanks guys

First lucid dreams are very confusing events

I understand if the reality checks didn't suffice. Just by looking at their nature, I wouldn't rank them as a very effective induction technique, but more of a supplement.

What's more important is being in harmony with your subconscious, so that it participates in revealing lucid dreams.

Verbal commands help with increasing lucidity. A popular phrase is "Increase Lucidity Now!" Of course, suit the phrase to your liking. I also think it would be easy to remember to take the time to view your surroundings.

Congrats!! and Welcome back. Have a

Not all of them will be groggy, perhaps your next one will be clear. AirRick101 made a good suggestion, I use verbal commands all the time.

sometimes while lucid your subconscious does not want to completely let go. A good strategy are verbal commands, but not my favorite. Usually, I just wait it out, do not get excited, and allow my conscious to slowly take over. The detail will come. Walls help a lot. If you can create a wall, through spinning or just creating it, put your hand against it and feel it for everything. I'll give you temperature and texture, but theres much more.

These usually help me, and are common things people that I know do.

If you couldn't control much you probably had a very low level of lucidity. When you are not aware enough it is hard to really be able to control things in the dream or even yourself. I guess your subconscious is still king of half in charge of it all. Verbal commands work the best for me, when I shout one I feel everything become suddenly clearer. Repeating to yourself that it is a dream is also very effective...

Congrats on your first lucid dream!!!
      If I hadn't made me
I'd be more inclined to bow
Powers that be would have swallowed me up
But that's more than I can allow...

VERY good point Gaudior. About the subconcious not letting go. This is all new to your concious and subconcious alike, and somtimes it takes a little time to generate the focus and confidence to gain a higher level of lucidity like that of Truhtbearer was talking about.

The point is you had a lucid dream so you know you can have them. Are far as when, that is hard to say dest. Try not to over analyze the situation and like most of us have done at some point- not get to excited when you do have another. Good Luck!

I dont have frequent LD's (havent been making much effort lately though) but once you get one, you'll get more if you keep trying. Its not like, i've had one, and this will trigger an endless supply of LD's every night. (Although for some, ) you'll have to keep practicing.
