      Flash Light Initiated Lucid Dream

      This is a method I’ve come up with which has been proven to be very successful for anyone who tries it, probably one of the best. First let me tell you that I have tried a lot of methods including MILD, WILD and many more to no success. Until now I haven't had one lucid dream and it’s been 3 months!! Until I came up with this method that is.

      For this method you will need two things:

      1. A Flash light
      2. A friend/helper/brother/sister etc.

      First you will need to do WBTB, it is extremely important that you do this. Go to sleep and wake up 5 hours later. The reason why WBTB is so important is because you go directly into REM sleep from wakefulness, and its the best REM period of the night.

      When you wake up 5 hours later first recall your last dream (this helps) then tell your friend that when you go back to sleep to come in the room very quietly making sure he doesn't wake you up. Tell him to flash the light on your eyes for about five seconds and then to stop and leave. Make sure you do this once because if you become lucid by the flashlight cue your friend would not know. So if he kept doing it the excess flashes would become annoying and could even wake you up. It’s kind of a hit or miss strategy

      Users should modify the settings of the flashlight to find a cue with the right intensity and length to enter their dreams without causing awakening (basically not to bright to wake you up but not to dim so that you don't notice the light). In addition, users should practice mental exercises while awake to enhance their ability to recognize the light cues when they appear in dreams.


      After about an hour of being awake go back to sleep, try your best and relax and tell yourself “The next time I see a flashing light I will do a reality check”.

      Now this is the tricky part. The lights from the flash light filter into the user's dreams. This can occur in several ways. Cues can be superimposed over the dream scene, like a light flashing in one's face, or they can briefly interrupt the dream scene. The most common (and most difficult to identify) incorporation of cues is into dream stories fore example Little brother flashing the room lights, flash bulbs, lightning, traffic signals, police car lights: all are real examples of incorporations of flashlight cues. The trickiness of cue appearances underscores the need to thoroughly prepare one's mind to recognize cues via waking practice.

      If everything goes well you’ll notice the flashes of light and will do a reality check and hopefully will recognize that you are dreaming. And I can almost guarantee you will have a lucid dream in just three tries.

      The real problem here is that I don't think anybody would be willing to stay up that late to help you with it!

      Perhaps if you were willing to go nocturnal it would be easy enough to schedule the event with a daywalker, or the other way around. Alternately you could find a friend as into LDs as you are, and take turns WBTBing with one person slightly later than the other, so that you take turns flashlighting the other before going to bed yourself and using a solo tech.
