      sheer terror

two nights ago, i was off work so i decided to get some much needed sleep. i didnt even get undresed, just fell into the bed sideways with my converse covered feet hanging off the side. once again, nothing but nightmares. same as things have been since i left iraq 3 months ago. i am getting to the point now where i pretty much just know it cant be real and stop fighting so the opposing whatever can kill me and i can wake up with a jump and nail my head against the wall and go back to sleep. but that night was different. i felt myself wake up and i havent even opened my eyes. the lights are on in my room and i dont want to get it in my eyes. but i hear a voice clear as day saying something about metal implants or something and the first thing that pops into my head is "oh s--t! aliens!" my eyes fly open and i am in my room. my ears are filled with something like the soundtrack from silent hill 4 and there is a deep red hue to the room, not the normal yellowish light. i see my arms in front of me still in the posision i fell asleep in. and i cant move. all i know is that it is not a dream because it is all in first person and the bite i gave my tongue hurt like hell. i try to move my arm but i just cant. if anyone saw that movie "the grudge" where the ghost chick is walking down the hall and the camera is picking it up and it is like one second she is on one side of the hall, then zap on the other and right back. thats what it looked like my right arm was doing but not my left. and i was not moving it myself. i start off trying to move my foot. two inches. good, it was possible. then i tried my arm again. i was moving it, slowly and with alot of energy usage. finally i get to an almost sitting posision and my memory stops. next thing i know, i am right back where i started and my heart rate and breathing are perfectly normal.

then i do some research and find this site. does this sound like normal sleep paralisis?

Well that sounds like a combination of you Dreaming and Sleep Parylysis. Sounds like you were somewhat paralyzed in the dream (It happens) very difficult to move I come to this conclusion because it would appear that you were dreaming from what you described (yes you can feel pain in dreams).

But then you said you were back where you started and everything was normal so this to me sounds like you woke up in the position you were in while you dreaming.

However you may have Night Terrors, but I don't think that is necessarily the case.

sounds like you had a false awakening, that sounds scary though! I'm glad i dont get nightmares... but then again they would probably help me get lucid again. I haven't had a nightmare for years and I've seen every scary movie out there (that's not rated R, haha 15 year old mormon! ) and pg-13 movies just aren't scary enough. i'm rambling now. I'll stop:p
