      Possible Dream Sign

      only about 1/7 of my normal dreams are good dreams. the rest are nightmares. I used to see old women with huge heads and sagging skin on their faces just about every time I had a nightmare. I wasn't scared of elderly people during the day, either. just nightmares. Anyway, they seemed to appear at either the climax of my dreams or just before they ended. They were very animated looking and their heads were unreallistically large.

      I think these might have been dream signs, but I am unsure for a couple of reasons. 1, I only saw them in nightmares. They were not reoccuring in every dream I had. 2, (and this may just be low awareness levels) Whenever I saw them, it just distracted me more than hinted that it was a dream. 3, They don't appear anymore in any dreams; they stopped after I had a short dream that their faces melted. Thanks in advance for explanations.

      Also, it's my first night being well informed about LDs. Anyone have a suggestion of some way to start improving my dream recall? keep in mind that I live with some other people with rooms very near mine, so it might freak them out if I start talking to a tape recorder or if the light comes on and I start frantically scribbling.

      It seems you're just a giant-headed old lady at heart, Rafe. :p

      In all seriousness, a dream journal really is the best method. I can sorta see how people may find it strange, but I'm sure if you explain the whole LD thing to them, they'll understand. If not, a dream journal kept on here is a great method as well.

      If, for whatever reason, you would rather not do that either, just try to remember as many dreams as possible upon waking. If you do this, it's a good idea to do it as much as possible.

      About the nightmares; try some relaxation techniques once in a while. Being wound too tight can lead to weird dreams. Some nightmares will start to go away once you begin to try the LD techniques regularly. I know mine have.

      actually I don't have a problem with nightmares anymore. I like...never have them, seeing as i don't have any dreams. BTW, I think it's gonna be hard to improve my dream recall, because I can't think of the last time I EVER remembered a dream. it musta been at least a year ago.

      Actually, you have numerous dreams every night (Unless you're sleeping for extremely short periods.)

      Your mind naturally erases your dreams fairly quickly after having them, so when you first start, just try to remember the last dream you had before waking. Try to make that the absolute first thing of each day.

      You'll be surprised how quickly the recall increases, if you commit yourself to it
