      LD theories: what's yours?

I'm new to all of this, but was curious about any theories more experienced people might have as to the significance of lucid dreaming. To you, is it just entertaining and fun, or do you see it as at all spiritual or philosophically enlightening? If anyone has seen Waking Life, I'm especially interested in ways that lucid dreaming might tie into our conceptions of "reality." How have lucid dreams changed the way you think?

Thanks. Apologies if there's already been a thread somewhere on this.

i believe that LDs can be used to make the most out of life. i believe that if you can be aware in a dream you should be aware in waking life.

LDing to me is everything you described. It showed me how reality isn't as real as it seems, destroyed my former beliefs, definitions and made me more open minded. It's also very fun. You can do anything you've ever wanted.

Has anyone ever heard about meeting someone that really exists in a lucid dream? cause I had a lucid dream where a character told me that he wasn't just part of my imagination or whatever, and he could have easily been just saying things that aren't true, but I had the weirdest feeling afterwards. I've tried to find him but I cant, that's why I've been lucid dreaming is to try and find him, (and it's fun) it's quite difficult, i'm wondering if dreamwalking IS true (which i'm actually kind of skeptical about) then that might be the case, but if not I have no idea what it was other than just my imagination.

you know i have this theory that heaven and hell are like a never ending LD. like you know when you're WILDing how you hear things that aren't really there and you see flashes of images? yeah well i realized that alot of people that dien on a bed peacefully always have this like awe in their eyes like they are seeing something and even some people i have witnessed leave sometimes they say that the hear things or see things before leaving; i relate that alot to SP and stuff. sometimes i think that Heaven and Hell are just like dimentions that co-exist with our dreams and so its like when you are dead you enter a never ending dream that you probably cant control however you are aware in.

A way to access your subconscious. Probably one of the most valuable tools a human can attain in life is the ability to lucid dream.

Weeeeeeell It brought me to the idea of if I can simulate anything in dreams, why can't I in real life? (working on that one) also, you can trigger an OBE/AP through LDs, and of course direct access to your subconscious (which, I believe, I have made somehow in real life, but that's besides the poing) Also, it makes the most of your day, you can be aware a lot more of the time, and you can become extremely creative.

ALSO it must not be forgotten, it's the most awesome thing in the entire world.

So yeah, I'll refine that. My theory is, that if we can have direct control over our subconscious minds in dreams, why not in real life? I'm trying (with some degree of success) to manipulate my subconscious through hypnosis and meditation, and that's it's biggest philosophical meaning to me.
