Question Can You Go Lucid As Soon As You Fall Asleep?

My question is, can you FILD,WILD, or even DILD as SOON as you fall asleep? Sorry if I sound ignorant but I see all the tutorials for WILD/FILD/etc.. saying you should sleep 4-6 hours first so your REM is longer. I have no problem with that, I was just curious if it is possible to do as soon as you fall asleep, without any hours asleep previous to that. Thanks and any input would be appreciated.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but...

When you fall asleep you start off in stage 1, progress through the stages all the way to stage 4, and then come back up to REM. FILDing works because when you wake up for a few moments, if you're lucky, you can get back to REM real quick. If you were to try to FILD right before bed you would probably need to be wiggling your fingers for over an hour before you could RC and continue your dream fun.

There has been some debate over whether or not dreams occur in the other stages of sleep, but it is pretty much agreed upon that they happen in REM. If they do happen in stage 2, 3, and 4, (which I believe, though its not my point) they're more difficult to remember and possibly not as vivid. Because of this, it is most likely that DILD will only work during a REM period, which doesn't occur right away (see http://mywebpages.comcast.net/epolla...eepstages1.JPG) but should be possible during your first sleep cycle. The problem here is that you're in REM for such a short time, the odds are against you.

I've heard of people WILDing during afternoon naps, so it's definitely possible to do it without sleeping for hours beforehand. I think its just easier that way.

I'd say with WILDs and WBTB, yes, having experienced this.

Yes what? Yes you can have them without any sleep? If that's what you mean how would a WBTB be possible?

No, as soon as you fall back to sleep.

Well, two hour long WILD attempts before bedtime showed me it's pretty much impossible. Same with WILD after more than 10 hours of sleep, it's just impossible.
