      When did you discover LDing

Hello. Sorry if this has been posted before, i've ran a search but couldn't find anything too similar.

When did you start learning about Lucid Dreaming or discover that you could do it?

I had my first lucid when I was 16/17 but have only recently found this website and read more into it ( at 18 ).

I've always loved Coast to Coast AM and so probably googled stuff about OBEs or something and came across lucid dreaming somewhere. I don't remember any lds before knowing about them. I found out about them maybe a year ago but didn't have any until around January of this year I think. I always believed it was possible when I heard about it. They aren't as "crazy" as things such as OBEs (which I'm not really sure what to think of now, I was under the impression that they were just WILDs but now reading "Far Journeys" by Robert Monroe there seems to be more to them, but we'll leave that up to Beyond Dreaming topics). Anyway, I was probably 16 when I first found out about lucid dreams.

I discovered the term LD 2 years ago, but have been doing it since I was a very little kid at the tender age of 4.

I'm pretty sure there was a thread similar to this before but I can't find it either. (i'm just too lazy to look to be honest)

I've lucid dreamed alot through most of my memorable life. I didn't find out it was an actual thing that you could learn to do until I was 15 or 16. I've been trying it off and on ever since.

I had a few LDs when I was a child, and remember having been told that "if you look at your hand ina dream, you can control it". (easy and genius idea for a dream sign & reality check, got me lucid twice as a child).

I had no idea of what this was, until i found lucid crossroads, while searching the internet for a way to stay conscious all night. I had done something similar before, and wanted to know if it was actually possible.

Of course that the keywords "staying aware all night" got a lucid dreaming site as a result from google. So I was in

Throughout pretty much all my life, I've had half-dreams, where I'm aware of my body laying in bed, and I'm also aware of the dream. These aren't lucid, because I have no idea which one is real most of the time.

I also had a scary, scary dream which lead to me being lucid (It wasn't scary in the OMG MONSTER sense, but in the fact that it lasted 5 days, and I felt I couldn't wake up. Not included in sig. count). I didn't know what lucid was at the time. I just knew I was dreaming.

Then a few months ago, I had a very, very nice dream about 2 girls from my school. Wonderful, really. So I went around the internet, looking for information about incubating dreams, as I wanted to have it again. That lead me to the Wikipedia article about dreams, which lead me to the wikipedia article about Lucid dreams, which lead me here.
      Current Lucid count: 7
Number of lucid dreams more than 1 minute long: 2

      DILD: 5
      DEILD: 1
      WILD: 1

I'd like to know where I found out about them. I can remember searching for a site about them, but not where I'd heard about it.

I used to be obsessed with my dreams when i was younger, though i did not remember many i always used to have some which stood out above the rest and i would be fascinated by them, i was not aware of lucid dreaming though.

Then about 8-10 months ago my mate told me about it on the way to school and it fascinated me that this was possible so i went online and did a bit or research, i then joined this forum in january to ask a few questions. Then i got hooked on this forum.

I just found out what my way of dreaming is called, "lucid dreaming". I have been a lucid dreamer for many years but thought everybody dreams this way.

I don't really consider making myself wake up from a nightmare being a lucid dream, because if it was, then I would have been a very active lucid dreamer when I was younger.

So, I'd say that I "discovered" lucid dreaming when I was talking to a person I met on the internet who knew some stuff about LDs, so that was probably late 2004.

When I was around 6 or 7 I discovered that I could "choose" what I would dream about if I thought very hard about it when I went to bed. A few months later I must have had my first lucid dream (i can't remember exactly when or how it was) and ever since then their frequency has always been increasing.
