Reoccuring Frightening Lucid Dream, Interpretations Please

      Hi All,

I haven't posted in a long time because I haven't been very lucid lately. It's a long story relating to some personal things, but I was lucid last night.

I was hoping anyone could shed some light on what the heck this reoccuring dream could possibly be about. I've had this same dream for about the past four years. It happens every three months or so. It's very scary, and it happend again last night.

In it, I'm either in a city scape or in a rural field. I hear a roar of jet engines or the sound of a hellicoptor right above my head. I see a plane or the copter and it seems out of control like it might crash. I begin to panic. I feel that it's going to crash and explode really near me and I better get out of there. Sometimes I'm alone in the dream; sometimes there are tons of people around, like on a city street, or just a few people.

In the dream, I start to walk really fast away from where it looks like the plane will go down. I yell at people to get away as fast as possible because something looks really bad. They always ignore me and stand there gawking at the plane or copter in distress while I'm trying to run away. At this point in the dream, I have difficulty running away from where I think the plane will crash. This is when I make myself lucid to break out of that stalled feeling. It's at this time that the plane does crash onto the ground or into a building, and I'm running like mad and out of breath to saftey. I can see the reflection of flames as I run away really fast now because I'm lucid, and I can see plane fragments on fire dropping to the ground. I seem to be the only one safe because no one else ran to safety like I did.

I don't see people die a horrible death because I always prevent myself from seeing that stuff in my dreams when I'm lucid, but I know they all died. I sometimes see the destruction of buildings and fields, though.

This dream first came to me a few months before the September 11 attacks at the World Trade Center, so it is not based on that. It's something else, but I can't get a grasp on it.

The images of sight and sound are so strong in this dream. I hate this dream. Can anyone shed some light on what its about? Sorry if I posted in the wrong forum or this gets posted twice. My connection just wigged out as I was submitting this story.

To me it sounds like an issue has arisen in your mind. Mind telling us any details about your life? Something depressing I'd think, seeing as the dream is after all about destruction.

I'm no pro, just another lucid dreamer but in my oppinion I think there's something in your mind that needs attention. It almost sounds as if you've lost something or someone.

I'm guessing here, just trying to help.

Interesting. Thanks. I don't think this dream relates to a new issue in my mind, though, since it's been reoccuring for so many years. Oh, and as Alric posted, I am afraid of planes and flying, but I don't think this dream stems from that.

Are you afraid of hurting people or did you ever hurt someone real bad? Or are you afraid of beeing faced with something that you're not going to be able to handle, or something thats going on thats way over your head?
