I have had a smiliar experience actually. I was trying to find my dream guide recently actually. I decided to 'warp' to a forest-like scene, because it seemed like a typical cliche place. I saw a DC and asked her if she was my dream guide. She said no. I asked her how I can find my guide. I don't remember word for word, but it was something along the lines of "but you can't swim!!".

Which is obsurd, because I can swim. I woke up shortly after. I don't know what it was. I wouldn't take the 'magic word' thing too literally. I think that was a figmant of your subconscious, and not necessarily meant to be taken literally. Just have another LD, and decide that whatever word you determine is right- is right. It might just be a way for your brain to validate having to meet some requirement to meet your dreamguide, because in your subconscious, you may believe that you must meet a requirement before you can achieve this. Now that you are aware of this, try it again and let me know what happens.

You asked a DC a question and they replied with gibberish that is all that meant it was just some random thing that a DC says to you. You would have better luck saying when you opened a door your DG would be on the other side of it. Or something like that or going from DC to DC asking if they were your DG or asking a DC to take your to your DG.

I just shouted 'Dream Guide' very loud, twice, then heard a noise outside the door, opened it and he was there.

Can someone please explain what exactly a dream guide is/does?

It's someone who you can ask questions, they can teach you things, help you out things, do things for you, it's like your own personal buddy/assistant who is reoccuring throughout dreams usually maintaining the same persona although it could be different.

Does it have to take the form of another human or can it be anything?

It can be anything mine is a old Asian man, another persons I read was a Owl with top hat cane and dress suit, anothers is a dragon, etc. It can be anything you just have to find it first that's the hard part.

You guys are acting as if Dream Guides are something like the Daemons from The Golden Compass... I'm pretty sure that "dream guide" is just a term for a recurring character in your dreams you have invented. You don't have to 'find' your dream guide, you just have to invent one. So, it could be whatever you want it to be.

Hey! Who's seen that Episode of Malcom In The Middle where Francis is running after this girl and then the girl turns round and it's really this tower thing that he got the day before? Red Indians have them I think.

It just reminds me of the situation by the Thread Starter.

All through the episode he's trying to get back into the dream world where he had this dream but he can't. In this dream, some old guy woke him up for a very stupid reason.

but what the guy one response up said is kinda true...i mean it IS our dream, it must be OUR dream Guide too so why not just create him?
