      Dream hitchhikers...

I thought I would share a rather interesting experience as of late... In a recent semi-lucid dream, I came across a character, a female, who seemed to realize that she was a dream character... Upon further conversation with this girl, she identified herself as a sort of "hitchhiker" that moves from person to person, living in their dreams... She told me about her previous "host", a woman who had recently died, whom she had been with for a number of years... As we continued talking, I noticed an aircraft carrier in the sea (we were seated on a cliff over looking the ocean). I told her about how I had often attempted to dream of flying fighter planes, but how I was never able to get above tree level... She told me to "just do it", and I found myself quite high in the air, unfortunately with no airplane... I was immediately overcome with massive vertigo and forced myself back to the ground where I had been previously... This isn't the first time I've met a character who seemed to be aware of their non-existence outside my head, the previous being a man who stated that he'd simply become another character in another dream when I asked him what would happen if I awoke... I've often wondered if maybe these characters really are concious, or are just a concoction of my sleeping brain... The funny thing is, even if there were hundreds of concious entities living within the dreamworlds of our minds as we sleep, there'd be no way of ever knowing...

Now to the point (yes I did have one!), has anyone else had experience with dream characters that are aware of the nature of their existence? If so what do you think about them, and what'd they say?

I havn't but that sounds really kool, another reason would be if that ever did happend, that would mean i would be lucid. Should have asked if there were more like her. I so wish i had a dream guide, or anything that made dreaming funner.

Consider yourself luky, at least she didn't deny she was a dream charecter

Wow, that's pretty interesting. I've never experienced a dream hitchhiker that I can recall though.

BTW: welcome back to the forum!

Now that's a very interesting story.

Even if your dreaming mind "just" made it up, it's still a very fascinating idea. Think of it... one could write a whole novel on such a topic !

      hitchin' a ride

No hitchhikers per se, but have spoken with characters who seemed fascinated that I was aware of them... like "outside observers." Interesting concept.

I've had problems with power lines in lucid dreams. They really get in the way if you can't get any altitude.

I like using powerlines as slalom courses =) over under and around, though i need the big lines, the little ones usualy have to small a spacing and are too close to the ground for me get through.

Most of the people I have met in my dreams have insisted that they were as real as I was... err.. umm am. I have yet to meet somone that was tagging along like that. Could be interesting.

I've had so much trouble with power lines too!!!!
I've had one dream with someone who also claimed they were dreaming, but it could be because I'm chatting with everyone here and think about other people's dreams.

Me three. When I try to fly upwards sometimes they act like boudaries and when I get near them, I get severely shocked!

Reminds me of last nights LD. I decided I would work on a new altitude record. So far, I have not been able to fly above 3000 feet.
I remember on takeoff, I flew up through the branches of the apple tree in my backyard.
I had to slow down until I cleared it because I was afraid of hitting my head!

      *sigh* n/m

If on a clear night, I noticed I can see something weird regarding high tension lines, look between the lines and then outside, I get a weird lense like effect or a blurring, in essence that is where the power is too.. it not in the wires.

The power travels in a three dimensional wave between the three lines I beleive...

As a human, I have trouble getting too high, I think I got around a couple thousand.

As a dragon, I dont really have much of a ceiling, space is cold....

I did, in fact, make it into outer space in a dream once by flying straight up into the night sky, and even landed on another planet, although it wasn't very big - maybe a few dozen feet in diameter at most.
