I Died In My Dreams, What's That Supposed To Mean..?

And no, not just a lyric from a 'The Rasmus' song...

As far as I remember, I've died twice in my dreams. Not very recently, but within the last six months. I can still remember them pretty well though:

      The first time:

[/i]I was on my way back from work going down the dirt track, with some other guys, in a golf cart. Just standing in the road there was this guy. The golf cart swerved and we rolled it and ran him over. Oops... So, we're back at the top of the hill going down again and the guy's in the road again. I knew he'd be there but we still hit him. I think it was the third time going down the hill that I managed to stop the golf cart and we didn't hit him. I was sure that'd make things right, but it didn't. The guy said he was going to have to kill me for running him down, so I turned to run. A little girl appeared (who looked like somebody I know) and the man was throwing knives at me as I ran away (the usual slow-motion running). At the foot of the hill the man asked the girl how she wanted me to die. She replied, and then they started throwing shovels at me instead. I made it to the top of the hill and got inside. I tried to reason with the girl (the guy disappeared) and I offered her all of the money in my wallet (I think it matched what I really had). She said she'd take it in exchange for not killing me, but I knew she was lying. As walked away and I turned my back, I ducked. A shovel went flying over my head. At this point I kind of broke down (the emotions were really quite strong) and I just stayed still as she chopped my head off with a shovel. That was the end of me...

After that it went a bit strange and I turned into a ghost, meeting up with some relatives / old friends, some of whom are dead some of whom aren't, based in the office of a family friend who did actually die.[/i]

It's a pretty long post already so I won't outline the second one...

But I have a couple of questions:

What is this rewind --> rectify thing about? I've had it loads of times where something in a dream's happenned and things have gone wrong so I've gone back, but totally known about it and have tried to avoid the situation. Is it an example of lucid dreaming (being aware of the dream and choosing actions to avoid the scenarios)?

What does death in this context usually mean?

      Cheers,

      Tom

You could be really stressed out.

Since you were chased, you may feel that their is something out there to get you. Maybe it's a person, maybe it's an unfinished assignement...

Even an innocent little girl didn't spare you. That could mean you feel hopeless...

And it was execution style, so it may feel that time is running out and you must do whatever you really want to do before it is to late.

That's all I can think of. I hope it helps in connecting with the true cause of the dream.

Note that not all dreams have symbolism or so much as a meaning. Death happens alot in dreams. I myself have been eaten by a cow, yet I have not found so much of a inkling as what that means, wether I am going to be eaten by a cow or wether I shouldn't drink milk.

Dude, chill, i think this happens to EVERYBODY...

It's perfectly normal, and one time i had a dream like this:

I jumped off a cliff above the clouds, re-incarnated, jumped off, re-incarnated, jumped off, re-incarnated......and that went off for about an hour...

Don't think your life is ending or anything!

      Never know...

I had another one when some guys broke into my house (which was one of my old bedrooms with the bar from work in it). I knew they were coming but I didn't do anything about it (I grabbed an X-Box control pad and stayed still). 3 masked guys came in and started executing us with spades (kinda' like the ring wraiths do in the first LOTR movie when they think the hobbits are in the beds).

The other time I was going into the Matrix sort of thing and I knew on the other end (which was a Counter Strike map) that I was going to get shot. I was telling the doctors who had me in the chair and I had someone behind me ready to shoot but ultimately I got shot. I turned into a ghost on this one too...

And last night... An epic battle of sorts. I was stabbed, looking sure to die and I was getting burnt in hot lava, but somehow I survived it.

Maybe the death means nothing, but is the action-replay stuff classed as lucidity? The reason I ask is because I think it is. I mean, you're aware of the course of the dream so you consciously act to avoid it, whilst still in the dream. Or am I missing something..?

      Cheers,

      Tom
