      Flying?

Is flying in non-lucid dreams the same as in lucid dreams? Like, if you remember exactly what you did in the non-lucid dream is that the way you could easily fly in a lucid dream?Because in one of my dreams I just seemed to float up even with a small hop..and in one of my recent ones I just ran a few feet then jumped and I was airborne! xD..It really is fun, even in non-lucid dreams.

Close. Seems to be a little more difficult in lucid dreams when you are first learning to fly.

It took me about 6 months to get to the point that I could fly at will.

However, I still crash regularly =P

If I flew the same in my LD's as in my non-LD's, I would be totally exasted.

I fly in both non lucid dreams, and in just about ALL of my lucid dreams...it is my way of getting around and i complety love it.

It differs in the ways that i can control where i am going...but thats pretty much it...sometimes if i concentrate too hard on it i can't control speed, but if i just 'do it' its easier...

      Flying

Of all the lucid experiences I've had, and I've been doing this for ages, I still think flying is the best. There is nothing like feeling the wind flow past you as you sweep in and out and around buildings, things, whatever you like. Also - I like freefalling. Thats happened before where I get really really high in the air then suddenly lose all ability to fly and free fall to the ground where I just get up again without a pain of course.

Those feelings, for me, are better than sex, because there is only 1 place I can get them, and thats in my dreams, lucid or not. Sex is the same in and out of my dreams (although I dont turn it down either way )
Lucid at least once a week, mainly on weekends.

well i dont believe i ever flew in a non lucid dream. my non lucids are usually very close to real life in physics and location, like im never on some crazy adventure in the middle of some other planet with giant bunnies chasing me.

but in most of my LDs i fly pretty easily. although in the beginning i didnt know how and i jumped in the air only to find myself drifting slowly towards the ground. eventually i learned to focus my energy upwards or whatever direction i wished.

For me, the act of flying is always the same in Lucid dreams. When I'm lucid, I know exactly how to fly; I concentrate on floating and then use a wierd superman style to actually control the movement. When I'm not lucid, its a different way everytime. One dream I'll have to run and jump, another I'll have to use some jacked up wings made out of old car parts. One non lucid dream I had, I had to clang too small magnets together to make me fly. I don't know why something this odd didn't click me into lucidity but at the time, I was thinking that this was totally normal.
I know God will not give me anything I can't handle. I just wish He didn't trust me so much.

Flying in non lucid dreams is simple, unless you're being chased by something of course. >.<

Lucid flying usually takes a lot of practise, you could try starting off with jumping. Keep practicing until you can jump really high, then the next step is simply to jump and keep on flying.

I just thought I'd add a little bit about flying from what I've read from my multiple texts (majorly Freud and Jung).

In the somatic interpretation of dreams, flying is the cause of stimulation in the pulmunary glands. This is because of the light-headed feeling that makes one feel "on top of the world" or their head is "in the clouds". This is because of the associated empathy when one feels and abundant source of oxygen in the brain; simply light headed, can't keep balance, etc. You all know.

So this will lead to the question of how to somatically influence flying within dreams and what will inhibit flying. It would first be obvious that people with asthma cannot fly (typically) or that it would create a very exhausting feeling. Also, it would also give the impression that those with dehumifiers, fans, open windows, etc. Simply clean and "nice" air throughout the room in which they're sleeping in (obviously) could somatically induce flying.

For more indepth explanations of this, I suggest taking a gander at Sigmund Freuds "Interpretation of Dreams". And no, flying is not just because you have a boner.

      Hope I've been enlightening.

Interesting O'nus. I guess if you aren't in the right environment and state of mind, flying would be far more difficult to achieve.
I should ask my asthmatic wife whether she's managed to fly before.

Personally, my lucid and non-lucid flying is very similar.
I have trouble with over a couple of meters of height in both
And both are just as strenuous

I am always flying in my dreams, ever since I was little, I wonder if that means anything, what is flying supposed to symbolise??
But when I had my first lucid dream since coming to this forum (the ones before I woke up when I realised I was dreaming, or forgot I was dreaming quite quickly, so by this I mean my first real controlled lucid dream) I couldn't fly, even though I tried, so I settled for flying things to me or away from me, instead of me away from or to them.
Flying rules. You know how some people can move things with their mind? Is it possible to be able to learn to move yourself with your mind? Because that would be like flying, oh wow, I wish I could!!!!

I have only had 3-4 non lucid flying dreams in my entire life(one of them was some sort of musical ). Ever since I discoverd lucid dreaming I have been able to fly with great ease. I don't know why, but I have never had any problems doing so. I just kind of jump and keep on going, knowing I will continue up. The first LD I had, was the only one where I had some troubles staying up. In all the others I have been very succesfull at doing so, perhaps because it has been my biggest wish my entire life, to be able to fly, to roam free through the endless skies, with not a single worry on my mind...

      Flying...you gotta love it
      If I hadn't made me
I'd be more inclined to bow
Powers that be would have swallowed me up
But that's more than I can allow...
