      Thumbs up My first WILD

After reading a little about LDs on wikipedia and some other sites, I decided to try WILD. I didn't even do it right but it worked on my first try! I didn't know you were supposed to wake up after a few hours of sleep and then try it. I tried it when I first went to bed. It was real quiet in the house that night and I had a color changing light on in my room. I got in a comfortable position and laid there with my eyes open, focusing on staying conscious. I was really tired and it didn't take long.

First, I felt very relaxed and then an electrical jolt as I started to drop into sleep. Then the room looked like a staticy TV screen and like an old film. I felt a very intense buzzing sensation creeping in on me and strange sounds. My eyes were still open and I couldn't move but I didn't want to anyway. I was able to stay relaxed in the weirdness. The colors of the room were distorted like somebody was changing the hue. I closed my eyes and there was total blackness and I started visualizing things.

I was standing on a predominantly green and blue patterned beach. But there was no water or sky just blackness but where the water would be, there was some kind of surface...weird. Off in the distance I could see another "beach" island so I flew over to it. This one was different, there were patterns of molten green and orange and holes like swiss cheese. I zoomed in and out of hole laughing my ass off what fun! LOL As I was exiting a hole, I nearly ran head first into my b/f and stopped in midair. We floated there looking at each other and I said this is so cool we are in this dream together! I was so excited I woke up.

No I think Lamneth kept her eyes open until she decided she was tired enough to sleep. Then did WILD, cause I don't think you can keep your eyes open.

Well I'm happy for you Lam, it's good that you found success on your first try, might be a sign of good things to come.

      Awesome.
Keeping conciousness or a thought for as long as possible when going to sleep is a really good technique for LDing. Don't know about the eyes, as long as it worked . One question, to any of you, if you close your eyes or if you are basically in a very dark room, do you only see darkness or do you see any disturbances, like lights, images, or that static as Lamneth mentioned? I've been wondering this for ages and still don't know the answer.
      Thanks anyway and good luck!

Whenever I close my eyes and I'm relaxed enough, I see something, but it's really hard to describe. First of all, when I close my eyes normally I don't see black but a mixture of black, blue, and red, but in static form. Like a really dark complex magic eye picture. However, when I'm relaxed enough I see a sort of light show without the colored hues. My field of vision get *ever so slightly brighter* and a circular curtain of darkness washes over, moving into a semi-random point, making everything black again. But, everything gets *ever so slightly brighter* as the curtain of darkness closes in on the point, and before it disappeares into itself, another curtain of darkness apears, washes over, repeat, repeat, etc.

This light show has entertained for looong stretches of time when I was a little kid.
      reality check. etc...

dude. are you high or are you just seeing hypnogogic animation?
cause hypnogogic animation is a lighter form of HI you might be seeing that.

That's how I WILD too. I keep my eyes open. I WILD using VILD. Most people argue, but VILD is still a form of WILD. I VILD with my eyes open until I get a good scene, and can start working out the details. After that I sort of let my eyes close when they feel like it, and from there I form myself into the dreamscene.

My post made it seem a lot more exciting than it really is, it's very subtle in real life. Maybe it is hypnagogic (or is it hypnogogic?) animation, it's always seemed so normal that I never looked into it...

And no, it certainly wasn't drug induced.
