That's exactly what you want to happen!

When those "this is weird" moments happen:

1) you are questioning your "status" and
2) hopefully such questions will lead you to wonder if you're dreaming and
3) this wondering will hopefully lead you to do a reality check which
4) will confirm to you that you're dreaming and
5) this will cause you to become lucid.

Dream journals are very helpful as they build your dream recall.. which is important cuz what good is finally having a lucid dream if you can barely remember it?

All in all, it sounds like you're off to a very promising start!
