      This can't be happening!!!!!!!!

I have read many times about dry spells and always preyed it wouldn't happen to me but in the last 3 weeks (approx) i have had about 2 nights of lding which for about the past 2 years i have averaged about an ld night every other. I don't understand i am not doing anything different and i have kept positive, so what i am doing now is alot more rc's and also doing one whenever something slightly odd happens (started doing this 2 days ago) and it's already paying off because last night something odd happened in my dream so i done a rc but it failed but i am confident if i keep the rc's up i will regain my ld's. Coming to think of it now it was about when i stopped doing rc's when i had this run so maybe thats why.

Any ideas on why this very unwelcome run may have started, and how to get out of it?

Well, it's not really a dry spell because you still get LD about once a week or two, which is not so bad. Maybe try a different techniques, something that you don't have much experience with, and this may help to keep the effort fresh and interesting.

Maybe your trying too hard, calm down, maybe go to bed earlier, I think stess kills lucid dreams, so dont get stressed out.

Has anything in your life changed? Sleep? Work? Diet? Anything contributing to overall stress and worry or dominating your thoughts?

I've gone through two rather major dry spells in the past couple years - as in no LDs for weeks on end and even losing my recall for periods of time. I haven't really correlated it all to well, but it seems to have something to do with how much I'm trying to do at any give time.

Your "dry spell" is my normal, by the way. I'm thrilled when I can get one or two LDs each week. One every couple weeks seems to be my normal, with occasional peaks of three or four a week.

If you figure it out, keep us posted please!

I was under alot of stress not so long back but that never effected my ld's but what i think might be the cause of this run is the earliest i can get to sleep is about 2am. It's not so long after i joined dv's that i have started having trouble sleeping, maybe i am obsessing over lding so much it is effecting my sleep.

Also yes i may be trying too hard, but i think i will stick to the same techniques that got me this far and i know this isn't technically a dry spell but for me it is.

Hey, just keep calm about it and known that you will have another lucid dream, it may be tonight, it may be tomorrow night, just keep cool because you are capable of lucid dreaming after all eh? Try not to let it worry you

Yeh that is what i keep telling myself, i can't just lose the ability to ld overnight and i'm sure my ld's will return soon enough.

I finally broke my dry spell of about 2 weeks without an ld with 5 ld's this morning, (thats what u call ending a dry spell in style) and i believe it was all down to my sub-conscious. I woke up really early this morning with yet another ldless night and i was all negative thinking i might as well just give up i'm never gonna have an ld again, but then Daniel Beddingfield's song "Don't give it" up came into my head and i saw it as a sign so i went back to sleep and i'm kinda glad i did now because it resulted in 5 ld's.

It might sound stupid but my sub-conscious communicates with me all the time like this, puts a song in my head that relates to a situation like for example if u are trying to think of where u went on holiday 5 years ago, then the vengaboys we're going to ibiza song will come into u ur head (if u went to Ibiza) and also songs will come into my head upon waking which helps me interpret the meaning of the dream.

Does this happen to anyone else?

      Don't worry yourself too much.

Perhaps it's time for a break...Sometimes letting go will do you much good with LD's. See what happens, stop the tedious RC's for a while.

      I know it helped me.

LD's are really about belief, and patience with yourself if you ask me, so avoid the frustration, read about dreams, immerse yourself after taking a short break again, but all in a fun way, don't try too hard.
